I don't really know about the ins and outs of the Dont Say Gay bill, but

I'm in my early 30s and I grew up using gay as an insult through secondary school without even thinking twice about what it actually meant.

In hindsight I would have appreciated a little education on what it actually meant, why it's offensive and why it would be awful for actual gay people in school to hear the word used so casually around them in that context.

Lol all that shows rosso is that some people were insane back then, and that a fair few more are now.

Here's a start. The Bill does not have the words "Don't" and "Say" and "Gay" in conjunction with one another in the entire thing.

It's essentially a bill that prohibits teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity to kids from Kindergarten to 3rd grade (5 year olds to 8 year olds). That's all it really is.

I doubt they would of considered it awful. Its not like you were hate criming them.

I dunno, when I try and think about it with some empathy I think it must be awful trying to come to terms with this about yourself in itself, let alone when people around you are still using it as an insult. I imagine the natural reaction would be to pretend to be someone you're not, which puts you back years.
