If it turns out teachers are trying to force people to turn into this and that then sure, that's an issue, but that also seems like a strawman fantasy that won't happen in 99% of classes.

Don't know if it's got out of hand, but I'd say a lot of it is down to social media as opposed to what people may be being taught in schools.

It's the same way there's people now on Tiktok and other social media pretending they have a mental illness like tourettes or autism.

The abortion bill I disagree with.

But this whole teach little kids about gender fluidity at an age when they don’t even realize properly they are boys or girls I fully agree with.

Pretty sure I didn’t realize I was straight till I saw a chick at school in tight pants when I was like 12 and I was like, ok yep this is what I’m about.

Before then I wouldn’t have known. Kids should be left to be kids. That’s not to say we shouldn’t teach them at the appropriate moments that being who you are is perfectly acceptable but this nonsense or teaching kids all this stuff in grade 1 is ludicrous.

But then again on here we have so many English based people commenting on the headlines the bbc and the guardian fed them and no actual understanding of the American system so it’s kind of like flogging a dead horse

Dwight, I'm based in the UK, so perhaps you can improve my knowledge in detail. Is it the case that on a significant level young children in the States are being proactively educated about gender fluidity? Is this part of the teaching curriculum for schools? If so, I'd find it helpful if you could share some citations that indicate the scale of that phenomenon.

I agree that ideally certain topics regarding personal development are better addressed in a child's later years. That said, children access unfiltered information outside school and if they have questions and worries about certain things, I'd rather they have a chance to ask teachers about them, and if they do, to receive feedback that's not makes them feel relaxed rather than anxious about issues around their identity.

As I say, following this issue from a distance and without a full picture, I'm not aware of schools systematically teaching gender fluidity to young children, but I have read of individual cases of teachers being accused of 'grooming' after dealing with cases where a child has asked about such issues. I think we need to be conscious that it used to be quite widespread for kids to be stigmatised if their sexuality or their sense of gender identity diverged from social norms, and it's well documented that this caused intolerable suffering (lifelong traumas, suicides) on a massive scale. Those who have a genuine interest in protecting the innocence of young children would do well to ensure that well intentioned policies do not turn into witch hunts and re-establish taboos that have done so much harm to young people over the decades.
