Pre-season game against Oldham has been cancelled.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wanderers have called off their planned pre-season friendly at Oldham Athletic.
The Whites were due to go to Boundary Park to face the National League side on Tuesday, 12 July.
However, we are mindful of the reaction of some supporters to the scheduled fixture and will now not be playing the game.
Wanderers will make alternative arrangements to supplement game-time for Ian Evatt’s squad as they build up to the 2022/23 season.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much down to their ownership this.
Nothing thrilling at all in the pre season fixture list so far. Low quality opposition and nothing imaginative re new grounds.

If my memory serves me right weren't the games against higher opposition released later in the last season?
Perhaps the same will happen this coming pre-saeson.
https://www.saddlers.co.uk/news/2022/may/liam-gordon-becomes-first-signing-of-the-summer/
Liam Gordon signs for Walsall on a 2 year deal. One who I didn't think would struggle to find a club.
https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2022/may/its-a-done-deal-as-captain-commits/
Santos signs new 3 year contract which is effectively a 2 year extension to 2025.
Great news on Santos. We needed him to stay to keep a reasonably decent defence.
With Jack Iredale having signed we are heading in the right direction.
All we need now is for Fossey to sign and then we will have a wait to see if Trafford is on his way back before the start of next season.
Dion Charles called up for Northern Ireland.
https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/20170572.bolton-wanderers-forward-dion-charles-called-northern-ireland-nations-league-matches/
Let's hope that he doesn't get injured.
Key Academy posts confirmed.
https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2022/may/key-academy-appointments-confirmed/
I wish them all success in their new roles.
.
It's a worry with league one being out of sync. Charles hasn't played for 4 weeks and on his summer break. Not picking an injury up would be a bonus.
Evatt has said that we have made some signings but the club is not quite ready to release the news yet. Why not? The fans are chomping at the bit to see if we have signed Fossey and who others will be playing at the UniBol.
However, I would put money on Fossey being the one of the players that we have signed.
Also, he stated that there could be several other players signed. Let's hope that we get the quality of players that we will need to get us promoted.
So port vale added to our fixtures next season. Amazing memories from our last fixture there.
With the transfer window still not open its very quiet. A few rumours. The Beano have us linked with Tom Barkhuizen a winger released by Preston. On one of the Facebook groups Fossey has been talking to Wigan. Another Fossey is going to sign today along with spurs striker Troy Parrot on loan. Parrot is 20 and played 41 games and scored 8 times for mk Dons on loan. Let's see what happens.
!0th June before the window opens so look forward to plenty of news on and after that date.
Pretty much pointless checking for signings till the 10th unless they are for future free transfers. (Contracts end at end of this month).
Perhaps we'll get news of kit sponsors and new kits before we get signing news.
The Beano are on to the Fossey to Wigan story now. 3 championship clubs are in for him. I wouldn't get into an auction for him though if he goes elsewhere then good luck to him. I don't want us to go back to the days of unsustainable wage spending.
Evatt linked to the Blackpool job. He's going to get linked with every job going at this level but with the connection he has with Blackpool, being a championship club plus a relatively wealthy owner I'm a bit worried.
Another rumour dapo is being touted around to get cash in to balance the books but no takers.
So Luca connell is now a free agent after leaving Celtic. He was such a good player when he left as well
Just another four days before the transfer window opens but what lies in store for our recruitment plans?
Interest in the Championship for one of our main targets, Marlon Fossey who looked to be a shoe-in to join us but will he now be tempted to join a club in the higher division and possibly on higher wages?
I don't think that we will have long to wait now before we get the answer. Hopefully, he will decide to come to Bolton where he knows and likes the way that we play and also got on well with the manager, and players, and he knows that the fans love him. We will see.
Cardiff City striker James Collins has been released on a free and has been linked with a move to Bolton, but Derby County is also interested in signing him.
At 31 years old it doesn't seem that he will be a long term signing but his goal tally last season was good. Who knows? If we sign him he may turn out to be an asset that helps us to gain promotion.
Apart from that, there isn't a lot of other news that links players to Bolton.
At the beginning of last week, it was reported in the Beano that Evatt had said that we had signed some players but the club was not yet in a position to release their names. Did he jump the gun or have we maybe a couple of signings that will be reported in the next few days?
I sincerely hope so, we need some good news on new signings.
Stand by your beds !
I hope nodoby noticed my excellent record at the beginning of my absence of P5 W4 D1 L0.
While I work out how my electric and water bills are so high after being away for so long.
Let's have a guess at how many new 1st team players will be with us by this time next week. We'll have had a weekend and the 1st Monday of shirt holding up by then.
I'll start with a golf shout of Four.
Pasty, let me be the first to welcome you back into the fold. I must confess I was worried about you.
I didn't know whether you had health issues, had passed over to the other side or were just completely swamped with work.
In any event, it is good to have you back. Please try not to go AWOL for such a long time again.
Onto BWFC, no good news this morning just speculation on Fossey and Evatt. It would be a massive downer to lose the chance of signing Fossey but to lose Evatt at this crucial stage of rebuilding the club would be a disaster.
Let's hope that everything turns out well in the end.

I'll go for two. I can't see any more through my crystal ball so it has to be two.
Since IE wants everybody to go through pre season.
I went for four with fingers crossed, all the Fossey chasing and nagging I did works out. We need a full season with none of the slow start to the season and matches lark.
The pre season injury jinx has already started to make me nervous of what could happen while overseas. I'm sure a good old fashioned Lancs Manx would have been a safer and cheaper bet.
Evatt was hoping for a full squad for pre-season but it looks very doubtful that will happen now.
As you say the Fossey signing looks less likely now that there is a posse of Championship clubs deciding whether or not to place bids for him.
If he decides not to come then a decision on who else could fill that role and which other players could give us an edge for promotion in other positions. Evatt has stated that he will press for an early decision on Fossey.
We could do with another central defender and perhaps another left-sided player. We are supposed to have a list of players that we would like to sign but if negotiations haven't been started, that will take longer than a week to finalise.
Huddersfield on the 23rd Jly is a handy friendly, a week before the big kick off. It'll be a chance to test all the systems which have been tinkered with actually work.
I'm hoping all my Marlon chasing and nagging has done the trick, and all the current news is just a tease. Sharon does like a big build up and wants all fans on a high for the big kick off.
