And the secretary of state can only call a border poll when it appears likely that the majority would vote for departition. As it stands only about a 1/3rd would vote for a united Ireland and that number drops when higher taxes and no NHS/paying for health care is thrown in to the mix

They’d be transferable at the UK rate and payable by the UK via the Republic most likely, no?
I’ll receive a full UK state pension for the years I worked in the UK courtesy of the exchequer when I retire in Portugal, for example. And I’d have thought it’d be the same if NI were to join the Republic.
