Some biddy at work has printed out posters with pictures of Elizabeth with "Rule Britannia" and "God Save the Queen" printed on them, and plastered them all over the office, along with bunting and flags.
People have also been requested to bring in cakes/treats so we can celebrate every day from Monday onwards.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Most republics have more bank holidays than us

"Royal family" were just a bunch of geezers who took over a few places back in the day and then fought off invaders.

That being said I have respect for prince William and Harry and also princess Diana.
Her two sons served in the forces, good on them.
Also amazing how the queen is still going at her age, cute old lady.

I won't be celebrating the jubilee. The institution of the monarchy and its continuing role in our constitution is one of the reasons our country is held back by smug, complacent nostalgia. Becoming a republic would be a positive step, though I would have a lot of other reforms (above all a switch to proportional representation) as higher priority. Still, you've got to consider the benefit to our national economy from all the tourists flooding in to see the place where the guillotine was used.

Outdated feudal garbage that has no place in a country like ours that at least pretends on the surface to be based on democracy and equality. More foodbanks than McDonald’s over here and we’re supposed to pay tribute to a family who have just paid millions in hush money because one of thems a nonce. The whole thing stinks.

I get exactly what he’s on about.

If we didn't have the extra day it would pass me by, barring the odd mention on here from some.

I don’t begrudge anyone celebrating it but it’s not my cup of tea.

Hoping to avoid any flag waving neighbours who expect everyone to be excited about it.

Yeah same, my old dear loves all that so I empathise I guess, haha.

All for that extra day mind you, so hypocrisy is strong in this one.

24 days too late and counting.

Just going to enjoy a four day weekend. Not fussed about the rest of it. Will try to avoid those excited about it.

We are off camping to get away from it all... Our road is also being closed for a street party, so we are getting out of dodge the night before.

If you don’t celebrate the queen (Charles is a khunt and when he becomes king I couldn’t care less) but if you don’t celebrate a legend like the queen and arguably the great person in history then you don’t deserve to be alive or to at least live in the U.K. tbh

Used to be a big fan 20 years ago.

However things have gone downhill since Adam lambert became the front man so I will not be partaking.
