I doubt even Got Better could see an England win here.
Ah wait...NZ have settled in now we're in trouble

They have been settled in for the last hour and a half or so.
Once they get 200 ahead it will be game over, no way England's batting line up is chasing that down against their bowlers

Going by the last few years I doubt we could chase down what they already have on the board now. If the kiwis declared now we would be at least four down by the close.
FFS...get these caannts out
Wow..that outfield - so soft
Dejavu all over again and again and again.England get a team 4 down and are unable to get the rest.
Now where have i see that before? in the last 5 years?.
To think England bowled NZ for 132 and are in this position at half 5 on day two. says it all really
Tbf it was always gone to be overkill to expect to bowl them out cheaply twice. 1st innings batting as usual has lost us this game.
Yeah.. when 4 of your top 6 average under 30. says it all really and even Stokes fails way to often
Sounds like a couple of batsman have decided to play properly and the runs are flowing.
Until we have some batsmen (Root aside) capable of getting runs we're going to continue to be an embarrassment at test level.
Any half decent team will put together a decent partnership or two out of their 20 wickets, which is enough to beat us most of the time.
This is ridiculous...has someone just dropped a strip of axminster on that pitch....
Anderson and Broad are still fantastic bowlers when the ball is nipping around and swinging, but when the pitches flatten out they are ineffective. They are bowling at around low 80`s mph which will not trouble most test batsmen, we need 90mph+ when the pitches are flat. Shame the likes of Archer and Wood etc are always injured.
The guy from Yorkshire.. they didnt pick him. still decided to stick with Crawley and Pope.
Lees looks garbage as well.. the whole lot are useless apart from Root

It really does...there's been a lot of talk about mentality on threads of late...this applies none more so than in Camp England test cricket
Time will tell if Brendan McCullum can change this
I worry for test cricket.. another 2/3 years of this and even in England the 6 tests a year will be down graded to 4. More odi nonsense.. The players don't have the stomach for it. They know full well. once the 20/20 comes and the Hundred. They'll make way more money playing that.
Over-exposure is partly to blame.
Everyone used to get excited at the prospect of one, 5 match Test in the Summer and another in the Winter.

Anderson has been better away from home in recent times than he has at home, where pitches have been flatter and doing less. The problem is the lack of support so when he can keep it tight, others don't and the pressure is released.
The problem this team has is that when a partnership starts to build and say gets above 30 or 40 and lasts 15 overs or so, the team abandon their plans and just bowl short and hope for a mistake. If you've got plans and know a batsman's weakness, keep bowling for it.
Look at NZ with Crawley. The game looked like it was getting away from them they kept bowling full encouraging the drive and when one was a bit shorter and shouldn't have been driven, he nicked off. Now as much as I don't think Crawley should be in the team. At 70 runs behind with the first wicket down, we should still be in prime position. However it goes to show that if you stick with your plans then you will get your rewards. Short pitch bowling is a concession that we are hopeful of a mistake rather than planning for one.
