No whitaboutery here, just wondering, what was the story with Paul mcstay.
The skill he had in midfield did celtic ever get any bids.
Did he get too comfortable at celtic, mind his brother willie was also at parkhead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Totally irrelevant question.
He was a Scottish player playing in Scotland for the team he supported. Never wanted to go elsewhere and the earnings differential was minor compared to now.
AJer, dembele, Edouard, wanyama, forster are better comparisons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Question answered irrelevant or not 🙂

Don’t know if they are better comparisons, we have a core of English players, and the great squad morale has been talked about as one of the reasons we punched above our weight and had the amazing run to Seville.
Don’t think Forster is comparable, no surprise he got homesick with all you anglophobes. I’m glad, maybe you’d have won ten in a row if you hadn’t scared him off.
I think what’s more relevant is how did we manage to get Ronnie Simpson, eh?

He was so homesick that he came on loan, signed a permanent deal then left and then came back again on loan.
Try harder.
You're right though that it's not a good comparison.
Forster came up here, did really well and went to the EPL.
Goldson came up here, did OK and couldn't get to the EPL on a free.

Goldson has done a lot better than ok, he’s improved massively year on year since he joined which is understandable given the heart surgery he had. He’s won the league, stopping ten in a row and got us to a European final.
Can tell how brilliantly he’s done from the reaction of Rangers fans, and also from the reaction of Celtic fans on this page trying very hard to pretend he didn’t have any other offers.
Also can’t remember Forster being key to Celtic getting to a European final? Did McStay even help Celtic to a final actually?
Brilliant that Goldson has chosen to stay and shown love for the club.
was gutted when Forster left tbh.
i've only really been fortunate to see 2 great keepers in my time as a celtic fan, that i can remember at least.
Boruc was the first, Forster the second.
Gordon was good but made too many daft mistakes.
Forster is the best i've seen in a celtic jersey between the sticks, but Boruc was great value.
Good news this morning with the CCV chat . im reading into that that hes going to sign But im still saving up for Jota
he's not been very successful up here has he?

looks like both fans are happy that hes staying
I was rather worried that you would bring in a centre half on loan maybe from the EPL that would bolster the defence
Goldson staying pleases me , having watched Edouard run him ragged for seasons im sure Kyogo will also have some joy next season

it seems like getting to European finals is now the ultimate measure of a club's success.
It's really all that matters.
I'll let the advertising standards agency know.
We are Scotlands dominant club.
An uncapped English CB with no real offers, with their right back, an injury prone logger head cb and a guy riding a crest of a wave will not change that.
