He’s asking about the situation, and you are getting all uppity about him having not done any research. Have a day off.

No I'm just saying that before asking Liverpool fans it might have made a little sense to have a quick Google.

Bloody hell stop being so defensive

You compared LFC fans to the Klan on another thread. The pretence you’ve got a serious or sensible point to make is a joke.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I didn’t, I compared Leeds to the Klan. I compared Liverpool to the Naaaazis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, so you think anybody is going to take any of your nonsense seriously?

Fack off.

Wrongly I'd add, still no evidence of Lawro or anyone else saying it's a secret as far as I can see.

No idea where that misconception has come from, bit weird to be honest.

posted on 10/6/22

Neo, I couldn’t say. I’m just pointing out what 52 said, it would be for him to say where.

But even still, I think fixating on the use of the word secret kind of misses the point anyway when obviously Lawro has mentioned how people don’t talk about Heysel.

Yep fair enough, no idea why it isn't talked about very much to be honest, nor Bradford or any of the other disasters. Talking about secret's makes it sound like the club forgot it ever happened or trying to do so, which is far from the truth.

Lawro made that tweet in May 2020 as well, so I imagine Heysel was talked about less than ever in that year. Considering we were in the height of the pandemic with close to a thousand people dying every day at that point, I can understand why that was the case.

I don't know if it was on here or not, but I have heard him say " It's never talked about, as if it's a secret".
I wish I had used a different heading, I just thought it was snappy, but instead people have got hung up over it.

I really like 606 , it's the only social media you can have proper conversations, and learn things.
I, for example didn't know you had a memorial at Anfield.
But there is never a RIP the 39 on here as far as I know.

This wasn't posted to get at Liverpool fans, as Neo pointed out you had to be over 45 to remember it.
Liverpool fans had to shoulder some (not all) of the blame, but that water long since went under the bridge.

It really was for two reasons, to echo Lawro, why is it never talked about, and Liverpool fans thoughts, particularly if anyone was there.
And to see if I would learn something, which I have.
I've done articles on Religion, politics, immigration and they have gone well.
I'm glad that generally this hasn't descended into a slanging match.
Well done to all, and sorry about the title.

posted on 10/6/22

Iv't tried to find Lawro saying it and can't, but do remember it. Tbf though he didn't say it was a secret, but, as if it was a secret.

I don't forensically study everything before I do a post, especially where it is for conversation, not something to argue about.
It's like Lawro said it's hardly ever talked about, not in the media, not of here.
Anyway have a good day lads;

Every year the club does this and every year juventus utterly refuse to take any involvement form LFC. The end.

peopel were actually convicted in the end though you'd question the level.

I honestly have no idea why you want to conflate 3 entirely separate items and talk about secrecy where none exists but just perhaps and DARKLY all your articles on paris thus far have been leading up to this?

No, no dark plan. An arrempt to find out more about a topic never taked about.
You can scroll through all my posts and you will never find me slating Liverpool fans or the town.
You will find some banter about the team/

I think you're a good poster mu52. But this article does seem pretty wide of the mark.

It is talked about, and it is commemorated.

It just isn't talked about as much as Hillsborough has been over the years. What was talked about with Hillsborough was the huge cover up and horrendous coverage of LFC fans.

Had the authorities taken responsibility and the media not printed flat out lies about LFC fans, I'd say Hillsborough would be talked about like any other stadium disaster over the years.

You're comparing apples and oranges.

I don't think I've compared it to Hillsborough, about which my views have been made clear.

As I say, I saw this YouTube post by Lawro, I didn't read it because I was looking for something else, but it stuck in my mind.

And I thought it's true, and if Lawro thinks it's never talked about it must be right.

I watched on the night and followed it for a short while, but I thought there must be lots of things I don't know about it so I will ask/

OP

It very rarely gets mentioned because Liverpool fans are ashamed if it. And when it does get mentioned, invariably those that mention it are told to shut up.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's a leap to say that just because Lawro says something that that makes it true, especially when what he's provided is an opinion. Contrary to popular belief on JA606, opinions are not fact.

But I would ask you then, if you're not comparing it with Hillsborough, which I'd say now that the injustices surrounding it have been overturned is not talked about anywhere near as much as it was, what do you think would be an acceptable level of "talking about Heysel" for you to not see it as never talked about?

posted on 10/6/22

I say it about Lawro because he was there, because he works in the media, because ex players are friends, because he will know and speak to lots of Liverpool fans.
Because it is an opinion, but an informed opinion.
I've been on the site years and don't remember reading anything about.
No RIPs, nothing. Not even a casual since Heysel stadiums are safer.

I do get 52’s point, in that I’ve spoken to football fans born in the 80s who knew the basic story of Hillsborough but literally had not heard of Heysel. But there are memorials etc and it is observed.

I’ve heard it said that Valley Parade is the ‘forgotten’ stadium disaster and that that’s partly because it was only a few weeks before Heysel… but we’re saying here that Heysel itself isn’t that well-known. That makes me think it’s not Heysel that’s the exception here but Hillsborough. The latter has been talked about and remembered more than other stadium disasters partly because there were so many victims and, of course, because of all those political, legal and moral ramifications and the way it changed English stadiums.

I definitely have seen that in the past, although admittedly not as much as Hillsborough but as we've discussed that's a very different situation because the injustices carried on for years.

So, ignore JA606 as that's dying a death anyway, what do you think the club or media should be doing every year?

Probably what they are doing, but many things get talked about on here, and until today I didn't know there was a memorial and service. It's not been mentioned.
Anyway I think this is about as far as we can go.
Thanks to you and everybody for the input.

This sums it up. Stadium disasters get mentioned once a year on their anniversary. The mistake people are making is comparing it to Hillsborough and thinking why they aren't mentioned as much as Hillsborough. Everybody knows why Hillsborough is mentioned more so shouldn't expect that others would be mentioned as often.

Out of interest I looked at Bradford City on here. There was a remember the 56 on the aniiversary on the first page.
Though admittedly it was in 2019:
