Cool. We don't get many transfers wrong
So hang on, all this talk of Liverpool paying a fortune for Nunez and we end up only paying about £67m - not even in the top 10 most expensive PL signings.
Given the inflation of player fees and United trying to push for his signature, you have to say that this looks like phenomenal business yet again from Liverpool.
I believe the kids would call this a copium overdose

Your net spend trophy must be under huge threat right now though. If you sign him, your squad will be the second most expensive squad in Europe. Anything you achieve there won't be as miraculous as you guys tend to tell the world it is. He'll score goals galore for you, but it's not a genius spot. It's just spending big money to add to a great squad, that was already assembled for massive money.
How dare legitimately earned money be spent
I love the Liverpool banter. But they’re the last team I want to win any of the big two. Purely because they’re the best right now.
No two ways. Kills me to say it, well doesn’t kill me, but nearly did.
They sign well. Can’t see this next guy being a dud. Bring back Le Tallec or whatever he were called.

Could; and it isn’t necessarily a terrible move by Liverpool given where their squad is at, but United have dodged a bullet I think.
Liverpool are buying a player who’ll deliver them goals, but they’ve overpaid IMO, something United can’t afford to do given the amount of work their squad needs.
There are also questions about how Nuñéz fits into Klopp’s system I think. But I’m sure he’ll already have ideas about adjusting accordingly.
In short, probably a decent, if very pricey, signing for Liverpool. Would have been the wrong choice for United.
Panic buy in response to City landing Haaland. Silly money for an unproven player.
Could age badly but at that cost he will need to be top scorer in the PL and be world class very quickly
This isn’t a 20-30m gamble that could back fire could work out.
At this cost he either sets the world on fire or it’s gonna be hard to justify the cost.
I’d rather have Mane than spending nearly 90m on a so far one season wonder.
This is very different than getting salah after a great year in serie A for a fraction or taking a gamble on Mane being able to step up to the next level, even he had PL experience.
This is a straight gamble, smacks of what fergie did when city won the league on GD. Except we went and got Van Persie relatively cheaply and he had just had a great year in the PL.
Seems very un-Klopp

It’s all about trying to hang onto City’s coattails though, isn’t it? Banter aside, our points return in the second half of the season was incredible and we still couldn’t beat City to the league. Then City go and buy Haaland, so obviously we had to respond somehow.
But net spend wise the figures still add up. We’re selling Mane for 40m, Minamino 17m, Neco Williams 15m, Phillips 15m, Ox 10m. They’re the fees being reported and if accurate will cover the Nunez fee comfortably. Carvalho signed for 5m, Ramsay likely at around 4m.
I have no idea who else we’ll sign but as it stands spending is around 94m and we’ll recoup approx 97m, assuming everything goes as planned.

I get that
But losing mane (supposedly) and blowing twice what you’re likely to get from his loss to take this gamble doesn’t seem very Klopp like
I get the kid in January has looked good but there’s also the issue with firminho and his decline, salah I’m sure will stay this year
But is Salah, Jota, Nunez, Firminho, Diaz
Really any closer to city than Salah, Mane, Jota, Firminho, Diaz ?
Banter aside we were in this exact spot when they popped us on GD. We went and added RVP to what had got us almost there.
This just seems a bit weird from klopp, I’m not sure losing mane and getting Nunez makes you any closer to city especially considering haaland just got there
Banter aside
There's no way Liverpool lost their bottle cos of United and decided to just pay more 😂
Player is always going to Liverpool in that situation and I think the club and player would be aware of that. Sounds like bs that bit for sure. United aren't an easy sell nowadays especially compared to Liverpool.

The fee is one thing, but I think you also need to take account of the kind of season Núñez has had.
He’s scored against Bayern, Barça (twice), Liverpool (twice), Ajax, Sporting and Braga. He’s pumped several of the Primeira Liga’s dross sides for several goals, true; but that isn’t necessarily a problem given what Liverpool need, and his CL record (as evidenced above) is pretty impressive. It was last season, too.
I don’t think his quality is really in question. Only the price tag (which, if Liverpool only need one or two players, they won’t be too bothered about) and how he fits in to Klopp’s plans given his limitations with the ball at his feet.

Early yesterday it was Liverpool were confident they had their man irrespective of who else bid and could negotiate the fee down
End of the day they paid what benfica wanted and the huge add ons
pinch of salt, sticking Man United in an article gets clicks, still refuse to believe ten hag wanted him. While he was a threat against Liverpool on the break his touch was so poor and for a team that struggles to break down the low block he’d be another lukaku.
I’ll be surprised to see how effective he is for Liverpool without an acreage to run into
