Everyone seems to have forgotten that he spat towards a spectator. I’m sure it was nowhere near, but he admitted the motivation/ the intention.

He has a weak mentality, and he is a wannabe bully.
I would’ve loved to have played him, I’d smash the ball at him on purpose, most def.

If the Russians were here, Nick would’ve been long gone by now.

Yeah I don’t care about them being role models but if they’re a d-ck and not remotely likeable then why would I like them?

he is a horrible kunto ! he targets individuals, mocks line judges for not being as famous as him, and then spits at fans.

the last offence is worthy of a ban IMO

Terrible sportsman, terrible role model, and a terrible advert for the sport.

And basically what Robbing said ^

(Surely he’s still tennis’s public enemy number two though, after Novax.)

I hate that role model rubbish.

He's a tennis player not a school teacher, it's not his job to provide a good example.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn’t say it was his job, did I? I was responding to a question asking whether people liked him or not.

Whether he likes it or asked for it or not, he’s in a position of power and influence, publicly promoting the sport - and professional sport - to the next generation. Personally, I’d prefer athletes to be doing that without displaying the behaviour of a spoilt, temperamental and disrespectful bedwetting Tweenie.

But it's free to do so.

In a way though he is a role model because he is demonstrably a nobhead who has tanked matches and here is a list of his wins.

In fact I don't think he has ever made it past the quarters of a grand slam has he?

He's basically famous because he whinges a lot.

role model no, but a representitive of a comission that run and host tennis events that he is INVITED to. He will have standards to adhere to.

Oh yeh, he has to act out. Cos he’s not really elite level.
And it works cos, he gets people talking about him, and he stands out.
But he’s lucky this year. Tsitsapas, should’ve beat him, but lost the mental edge.
If Rublev or Medvedev were there, game over.

thats the point he hasnt been held to the same standards as others due to his fame. If he was ranked 456 in the world and no one knew who he was he would be kicked of the circuit.

His spit at the fan is worthy of a ban

The blokes a complete tool. Shoes no respect to the officials and acts like a spoilt child.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess you'd like to see him booted out of the tournament? Or at least given a good wellie by one of his opponents?

In the wrestling world he'd be known as a heel, but I think if given the right trainer he could have an incredible career.

Yeh, he’s a talented player, but he does take it to far, that he has to resort to winding up opponents, with his antics.
Being flash/arrogant play on the court, no problem. But he talks way too much, and is a diccckk for it.
Very unreasonable.
But as he says, if he stays quiet, he tends to lose.
So he’s trying to make up for what he lacks.

Thing is Tsitsapas, is a diiicck to. I’ve seen this guy lose his marbles, and even smash the ball at his own dad, who didn’t do anything. So he’s just as bad.

Like to see Nadal, do the impossible, and go for the Slam.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree on all points.

As has been said though, hard to see past Novax … especially given he’s basically had byes all the way to the final. Haven’t seen as favourable a draw as that since … eh … Southgate.

Breath of fresh air but British won't like him for being outspoken. People will jump on the bandwagon of disliking him. Do hope he gets his head down and plays some good tennis for a spot in the last 8 or whatever it is now.

Might’ve jumped the gun a bit early there, but his potential is greater.
I give Nick 2 more years, before he slides out the top 50. And into Tennis purgatory.
