Dementia/Alzheimer’s scared me far more than death. Not because I’ll know anything about it but because if seen first hand the toll it takes on the family. I’ve told my Mrs and will tell my daughters when they’re old enough to understand that if I ever get it they should chuck me in a retirement home and forget about me until they have to burn the body.

Need to get to the doctors. Can't swallow food now when I start eating need to drink to was it down. I'm a mess.
High blood pressure, chronic drinking 140 units a week levels, BMI of 40.l, chest pains, low calcium, gout etc.
I don't smoke though 🤣

The first paragraph is literally what Andy Goram experienced, go the doctors asap.
I take getting older as it comes.
One thing that does annoy me though is people assuming you lose your taste in music at 50 and you're only interested in listening to 70's 'Classics'.
We don't always agree 'MU' but i believe you are a decent man so please don't suffer. Make your own choice.
As an aside, and due to me looking after the 'oldies' in our family, don't hoard your wealth. Share what you can while you can and enjoy the smiles. Don't rob yourself of these moments

I do enjoy when my kids ask me to listen to a “new” song that’s come out, and it’s a remake of a song many years old. The look on their faces is priceless.

It was cancer of the oesophagus that killed my mother aged 55. I had lost both parents before I was 18.
Yeah I'll get the doctor booked.

There were comments on Twitter about Paul McCartney ripping off the 'Postcode Lottery Song' when he sung 'Let 'em In' at Glastonbury.
It was hilarious to see the reactions when it was pointed out he actually wrote to song in 1975.

My dad died aged 82, absolutely fit as a fiddle, loads of exercise etc but started having problems swallowing food, anyway one thing led to another and died of bronchial pneumonia all related to the swallowing issue
Am 48 next month so hopefully a few years left
Don’t fear death. However watched both my parents die in the same hospice room 2.5 years apart and would not like to waste away like they did. My mum suffered a bit at the end

I’ve got no particular fear of dying, as long as it’s not painfully (or too soon). But I hate, hate, hate getting older - literally everything about it.
The best way of limiting drinking in the eve is to tire yourself out during the day. Have done some big hill days with early starts this week and struggling to finish a couple of beers. Win win tactic/solution.
Exercise solves pretty much everything.

After a long walk, I’d be thinking that I definitely deserve a drink. The main thing that makes me drink quickly, and therefore drink more, is talking to people, so I have mainly stopped doing that now.
