Elvis - I wouldn’t tbh as I know for sure he will go 5-10 games without a goal and get injured. That’s who he is
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But when he isn't scoring he contributes more assists than Ronaldo.
There really isn't that much in terms of goals/assists involvements between Ronaldo's last 2 seasons and Martial's 2 seasons as CF (2019-2021). And we look better as a team with Martial in it with goals spread more evenly between the team.

We shouldn’t be begging Ronaldo to stay, if indeed we are.
The Glazers were hoping they’d landed the next TB12 and that’s clearly not the case.
I suspect that we can replace his goals quite easily throughout the team.

There isn’t much future for a player pushing 38 so stay or go personally I’m not too bothered either way but the love in for Martial I just cannot get my head around.
We need a centre forward if CR7 goes and Martial needs to be the back up, he is a hot and cold player with a sulky poor attitude at times we need a lot better to get out of the malaise we are in.

Considering we scored more the season before without him in the team, its not really that much of a stretch is it?
Yes, yes it is.
Rashford and martial had not at that stage forgotten they were footballers, bruno scored an insane amount before going off the boil.
there are reasons we didnt score as much and those had nothing to do with ronaldo.

Won’t take much to displace a flop like martial who is wildly inconsistent
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whilst not being as good individually as Ronaldo.....we perform much better as a team with Martial as the number 9.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
so you sent him out on loan, why?

Alternative view is that we play better as a team without Ronaldo in it and the goals are spread around more.
All you have to do is take a look at pre-season. Sancho, Martial and Rashford all look more comfortable playing together than with Ronaldo. We look more fluid in attack for me.

Because Ronaldo was playing as no.9 and Martial was probably dejected having been once again shunted out of the no.9 spot, having done pretty well in that position for the previous 2 years.
Chances are Martial is gonna be shiiiit this season as he was shiiit the season before Ronaldo joined so can’t really use that as an excuse. The thing that does give me hope is that we actually have a decent manager now so hopefully he can wage his magic wand over Martial as this is his last chance to make it at United. Fingers crossed he does.
My theory is the only reason the hierarchy, including the manager, want to keep him is because with only the Europa League to entice players, a good season under ETH could see you qualify for the CL next year, which makes you a more attractive proposition for available strikers. Who's realistically available now you'd want to see replace Ronaldo?
Qualify for the CL and you could be looking at a whole host of great players. Kane at the end of this current season will have 1 year left on his deal. if we don't do anything this season, he's gone. He wants to break Shearer's record which means he'll stay in the Prem. With City and Liverpool having recently bought number 9's, the only realistic club is United as I'd hope he wouldn't even consider Chelsea. Really hope this doesn't happen but I've got a horrible feeling he's gonna run his contract down as one last feck you to Levy.
I’m interested to see what ten Hag’s going to do about our fitness this season. It’s been a major problem for our struggles the last few years. Collectively, of course, but for some players it’s been a major problem for their individual form as well.
A fit Shaw, Varane, Rashford and Martial are vastly superior players to what we saw last season, for example.
There isn’t much future for a player pushing 38 so stay or go personally I’m not too bothered either way but the love in for Martial I just cannot get my head around.
…
I don’t think it is so much a love in for Martial but more as people can see the team benefit of Martial compared to Ronaldo.

Yeah that's pretty much where I'm at. I have extreme reservations about Martial, as all of our fans do to some extent I'm sure. But if he's motivated and fit, he can be an asset in a progressive attacking team.
It's fair enough questioning whether we're being complacent about the option of Martial over Ronaldo. Martial on form is a better fit for the team. With Martial having a stinker (very possible despite the smiles and performances during pre-season), I'd rather we kept Ronaldo, despite the psychological and tactical baggage. But it's not either/or. If Ronaldo goes, it's hard to imagine we don't bring in a replacement.

Not sure where you get the stats from. I have 7 goals in 36 games. Didn’t score a PL goal until December and only got 2 PL goals after the Christmas period all season. It was a terrible season for him. Rash and Bruno did the legwork with support work from Greenwood.
