Kanye! I think he's the best hiphop artist of a generation, yet some people truly hate him.
And this leads to the crux of it for the likes of coldplay, U2 and Kanye... Some people seem to hate on their personality, not their music.
Kanye before he went mad was brilliant....since then not so much.

I also love Coldplay....U2 on the other hand....but that may more to do with Bono.

What he did with the album Love Lockdown changed hip hop entirely.
There is no denying he has gone a bit cuckoo and it is quite clear why if you watch the Netflix documentary and how close he was to his mum, but there is truth in some of the madness just not articulated right.
Lostprophets.
Don’t care what anyone says, they’re still on my Spotify playlist.
Ed Sheeran- can't stand the man, proper case of the Emperor's clothes
He is one of the best around now. He can jump into numerous genres of music and his voice blends in.
Oasis, probably the most overrated band ever
Bob Dylan- people get obsessed with him, but I could never get beyond his whiny voice and self-importance, even though I liked his songs when other people covered them, e.g., the Byrds.
The Smiths- a real marmite band. I like their music, even though Morrissey morphed into a thoroughly dislikeable character and his music quality nose-dived when he went solo. Some people hate The Smiths, though, thinking they're depressing.
Radiohead- some people are obsessives with Radiohead, other people hate them for similar reasons to hating The Smiths (depressing, weird etc.). I liked them as a teen, but now in my late 30s I can see they were ripping off earlier bands and Thom's voice is annoying. A friend's neighbour owned a house next door to the Greenwoods' in Oxford when Radiohead were starting out (when they were called 'On a Friday'. When they were practising, my friend's neighbour (in his 50s at the time) leaned over the fence and said, "We've already heard Pink Floyd, thank-you!" I see more King Crimson influences myself (compare 'Creep' to 'Red' by KC).
hate Bohemian Rhapsody with a passion,

There's one that really is contentious in my family! Bowie...
He's just someone I could never get into, despite it always playing in my house as we grew up... I appreciate it's ground breaking music, but just not something i'd sit and listen too

They might not be to your liking but their record sales and continual calls by many to get back together shows they were and still are rated.

Hip hop has never been worse, so quite a damning statement.
I also don't for the life of me understand why anyone wouldn't like Abba

Same. My parents are Bowie fanatics but his music never really landed with me. I like a few songs but he's not someone I could listen to repeatedly.
But Bowie is so varied, you can choose the version/era you like? My Dad loved Bowie but didn't care for any of his stuff after Diamond Dogs. His Berlin/Eno/Fripp/Visconti period is my favourite.

Depends what you like, I guess...
Give me any recent Kanye/Kendrick album over the whole bragging, "da club" scene of the late 90s, early 2000s.
I don’t get the love for Rise Against. Everyone I know treats them like they’re a band with a direct line to their hearts but for me they’re average at best. Billy Talent and Glassjaw are much better.
Last month I retraced a lot of the steps Bowie made in the Lets Dance video as it was made in Sydney. That’s how exciting my life is.
The Beatles - 5% great songs, 95% cheesy crap and pure bullshiiit songs.
Bee Gees - 85% great songs, 15 % cheesy crap.
George Clinton/Parliament/Funkadelic - Pure genius.
Andre 3000 and Cee Lo - 2 of the greatest rappers ever, but many people think they are just pop singers.
And on another note, I was on the train the other day and there were some kids nearby talking about celebs who had children with weird names and they read out the celebs and one was Michael Jackson. None of them knew who Michael Jackson was 🤯
I hate getting old.
" I like a lot of his stuff but he was always surrounded by great musicians "
That's the genius of Bowie, he was the ultimate zeitgeit with brilliant taste. He went to Warhol's factory and saw how incredible VU were before most, same with Iggy/Stooges, Marc Bolan and the electronic scene in Germany. He also saw how to use Nile Rogers to make perfect 80s pop.
Kids not knowing Michael Jackson is a positive thing, surely 🤔

Do radio stations still play MJ, I was wondering that the other day? They defintely don't play any Gary Glitter and he's got some bangers.
