Carragher was saying the other day that he thought it was a shame that Arsenal didn't get CL footie for this season because Arteta deserved it as a reward for the progress they've made under his management.

I've never heard such a crock of $h1t in my life. They were 4 points ahead with 3 games remaining and its an over used expression but in this case it is fair to say they bottled it. I guess that's the sort of nonsense we should expect from a man who spits at children!!?

Now they've beaten 4 teams who will finish in the bottom half with probably a 5th to come and the media are getting very excited about it. I watched the Fulham game and I saw very little to justify the excitement, anybody would have thought they'd just beaten Real Madrid the way they celebrated at the final whistle.

Like most folk I Iooked at the first few sets of fixtures before the season began and thought Arsenal have got a ridiculously easy start so I'm not sure what the big deal is?

The league table means very little until each team has played 10 games minimum for this very reason.

If he said this then it’s just laughable. The league table literally dictates what is deserved 🤣

Four thursday nights lads getting some leftie media exposure. Cute.

It’s what the media does now, popular content is all about big reactions NOW with little reason.

Arsenal have done well to win 4, I’d be very happy if I was an Arsenal fan. Similarly I’m just as happy with our start.

I think it's a combination of a few things

Firstly, the fans are happier. The club have mostly gotten rid of the crap players on high wages that were holding us back the last 5 or 6 years. At the same time, bringing in younger, better, likable players that fit the way the young manager wants to play. After the scattergun approach under Wenger's last few years and unai emery, it's nice to actually have a recruitment strategy. We also have younger fans coming to games since some of the older, miserable lot gave up tickets after covid. The atmosphere at the games has improved considerably since the start of last season. They even outsung the palace fans at their ground on a Friday night, which is no mean feat. The media are slowly catching onto this.

It's been slow, but we're finally playing a good brand of football on a consistent basis. A lot of arsenal fans grew up on "Wengerball" so it's nice to see us returning to that.

The club took a lot of shiiiit from everyone (including myself) for blowing up our scouting system and making lots of employees redundant - but since then the club has implemented a far more streamlined and efficient system for our youth players. Finding good loans for our more talented players to help them become ready for the first team (hopefully no more gnabry's), selling the players that don't quite make it for good fees, and just overall making the pathway easier for them to train and play with the first team.

It's not perfect, but it's a damn sight better than what it was pre-covid.

Most of us know it won't last and that top 4 is the goal. The youngest squad in the league couldn't quite get it over the line last season and ended up losing a relatively healthy lead to miss out by two points. The Amazon documentary paints a young, hungry squad that were gutted to miss out, and the fans sympathise. The "Redemption" arc kind of writes itself.

But it's also fresh meat for the media if it all goes tiiiits up. Which is what these articles are. I doubt anyone seriously thinks we're challenging for the league.

Genius, good article. I am astonished how easy a start Arsenal have been given. With Villa up next. No team in Prem history has surely been given an easier set of fixtures.

These are the sort of fixtures flat track bully team Arsenal win every season. Spurs will beat all of those sides 3 or 4 nil minimum.

Things haven’t fallen into place for Spurs?

First game of the season against Southampton who look bankers for the drop. Playing a Chelsea team under new ownership and rebuilding their team. Playing a Wolves team who haven’t won on 11 games. Playing newly promoted Forest. Next up West Ham who are in awful form, then newly promoted Fulham.

Why are Spurs fans so obsessed with analysing the difficulty of our fixtures? Everyone had us down for dropped points vs Palace and now that we’ve beat them it’s supposedly an easy game.

Spurs have beaten two teams they lost to last season. And London derbies away at Chelsea and West Ham are notoriously difficult. Forest away is not a gimme either. Didn't they beat Arsenal comfortably last season. So don't even try to compare the two sets of fixtures. One set is as easy as it gets, the other is fraught with danger.

Also when Arsenal played Palace, Palace only had 10 days of pre-season training prior...Makes a huge diff!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Palace had a pre season game on 2nd July then played a further 8.
Southampton first pre season game was 15th July and they played 5 in total before playing Spurs 🧐

"Arsenal are not going to win the Premier League – this is not a controversial statement – but we may well end our Champions League exodus and win a few hearts and minds along the way."

The delusion.

"That said, my biggest problem with Arsenal over the last decade is how we’ve been repeatedly turned over by the big teams, so until we’ve faced Liverpool, Manchester City or even Spurs, the jury is still out on whether we have truly shrugged off that awful Arsenal-y softness."

The delusion.

"Second or third place could be achievable but I honestly think Arsenal playing really well and finishing fifth is in the range of outcomes"

The delusion.

Totally agree Sandy. Our fixtures have been much harder than Arsenals start and we only sit 2 points behind them after they made a 100% start. Arsenal have an absolute horrendous September/ October fixture list which will no doubt see them crashing back down to earth. When the going gets tough, Arsenal always fold like a pack of cards and whilst they beat Fulham, you could see the frailties are still apparent.

Spurs fans trying to claim Southampton, Wolves and Nottingham Forest are very hard games The one "tough" team you lot played was absolutely hammered a week later by a very ordinary Leeds team - and they are the reason you are 2 points behind us.

In previous seasons when Arsenal go a goal down they were not coming back to win the game unlike v Fulham on Saturday. Arsenal League Leaders. Just enjoying it while it lasts. Brighton will probably be top this evening.
As for Richard Keys and Andy Gray about the overcelebrating they are just both a pair of sexist old dinosaurs who must come right

Who said they we’re hard? Just harder than your fixture list. Chelsea away is about as hard as can get for us as is Westham away coming up. 2 fierce london derbies away who both hate us. Our fixture list is harder than yours.

Yep and over that period we come above you in the recent season. September/ October the league will be looking very different and Arsenal certainly won’t be having that 100% record that’s for sure. It’s a very kind fixture list you have started with. Just man up and admit it ffs.

Crystal Palace away is far harder than Southampton at home - and the Saints were on a run of something like 1 win in 15.
Fulham finished comfortably clear of Forest last season.
Wolves hadn't won in something like 12 games and finished below Leicester.

Liverpool faced 3 of the same teams we got 9 points from and they dropped 4. 😳 Easy start.

posted on 30/8/22

It's not the same team though - at least 3 players are different.

posted on 30/8/22

Didn`t Arsenal fans shoot their load last season when they were four points clear with just three games to go. I am not sure Spurs will not be overly worried at this point of time about closing a massive two point gap.

They never learn the Arsenal fans.

Arsenal have made a great start and navigated some tricky fixtures that are no gimme's which will breed confidence and give momentum.

The fixtures have been very kind though and perhaps played Palace at the right time before they got going and then Villa next

By the time we go into the NLD they could be absolutely flying

This kind of statement does my head in, it allows for no context and life is not black and white.

Some context for you;

1. A kind fixture list allows to build confidence which is key in football.
2. Momentum is also huge, going on a winning run right before playing a top team is vital.
3. Playing teams at the right time when they are in dissaray (i.e. Bournemouth who have just sacked their manager) vs playing them when they hit some form
