The irony of the OPs moan.
The Queen devoted her life to this country, fulfilled her duty without complaint for +70 years...some football matches are postponed out of respect for her passing and some people cannot even accept this tiny sacrifice and complain about it.
-------------------------------------------------------
What about the people who have spent money on flights and accommodation? I haven't watched football in over a year. I don't actually care that much but even if I did, it would still be completey stupid. Postponing football has nothing to do with showing respect, it's just punishing hard working people.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
<laughh> me me me me! That's what society has become and that is exactly what the Queen was not about, and why see is so celebrated,
I am amazed that it is lost on people the sacrifices she made to her life in serving this country, as they moan about the teeny tiny sacrifice that this weekends matches are postponed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What is this nonsense. Why should people have to sacrifice anything for a 96 Yr old person to die peacefully at home?
Calling off games is ridiculous. Her death was expected/inevitable. She had a great life. There's no tragedy here.

Fair enough mate, but she also had 70+ years of total privilege to off set the commitment, not to mention every human being she ever came in actual contact with ( not me or you ) being totally up her ar*e 24/7.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The way this is written every time you would think she had a shovel up her back working in 40 degrees heat.
96 years old, this calls for celebration. 15 years longer than the average life expectancy. Celebrate her life and move on
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's that too. I'm not sure what all this talk of sacrifice is about. We all make sacrifices for this country but most are not as well compensated as she was. She had a long life, and died well(as far as I know) it wasn't a tragedy or disaster. As mentioned above we played arsenal 5 days after the Munich disaster. Football wasn't postponed then and it would of made more sense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What sacrifices have you made for this country out of interest?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We all contribute to the economy through our labour and pay our taxes do we not? My grandmother was a state registered nurse and gave up her life and children in Jamaica to come build the NHS. She became a state registers nurse (which was a lot harder back then) and suffered overt racism. She was promised a nurses pension and never received it but never complained. She sacrificed a lot for this country and got treated very badly by institutions including the NHS she served tenaciously. As a result she struggled more than she needed to and had less to pass down to her children. I'm also a descendant of slaves who provided free labour that this country and the queen benefited from. I did towant to go there but you asked.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your mother sounds like a saint, much respect towards her.
But I asked about you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A stupid question really. His family served this country and from what he said betrayed and failed promises. Even if he had the opportunity, why should he is the better question.

Would you really have faith in our elected politicians doing any better? That all the wealth would be split equitably among us and that power be redistributed in a way that improves the agency of us regular folks?
It's really easy to point out things that you don't like. Much harder to understand how and why they got like that, and to provide practical solutions that make them better.
Don’t talk daft. The majority of nations on the planet have an elected president.
UK is stuck in the 19th century.
The happiest nations in the world have constitutional monarchies.

You made a point about the not wanting to be a Royal because you believe they have a hard life. I made a point that they are not forced to be in that position. I didn't make any claims about wanting to abolish the monarchy to any end..
I didn't make that point, twas someone else. But I definitely learned a lesson about interrupting. Cheers!

Perhaps they just believe in principles such as equality and diversity, rather than in antiquated systems that suggest they are inferior, and should be subserviant to someone simply on the basis of the family they were both born into.
