Like I said elsewhere, my missus lived in Windsor, I spent a lot of time there, saw the queen a few times, she would drive past on the long walk on occasion. I am not anti royal or anything like it. That doesn't take aay from the fact that something is missing if you want to queue for 12+ hours to see a box with a stranger in it.

Was in the anatomy labs last 2 weeks and with cadavers and it makes you realise we are not anything else other than flesh and bones and the ego needs to be relaxed a little. There is nothing special about the queen more so than any Other human being. She will rot away like us all. That’s just the reality.

I have no wish to disrespect the queen. But I'm more concerned about the suppression of dissent (peaceful protesters arrested; broadcasters ignoring anything outside the official line) than expression of non-deferential sentiments on a forum.

Thing is, '52, it clearly doesnt mean the same to everyone as it does to you. For every staunch monarchist like yourself there seems to be at least another who's either indifferent or hostile to them. It's not universally accepted as an institution created by some deity that's going to last forever any more (whatever the Daily Mail thinks)

We are in the 21st century, like it or not. Even people below the poverty line, whatever that line is are upset the Queen is dead, and support a monarchy.
Some, like me, find it more annoying that a Russian 'gangster' with ten times the money the Queen had can come and live in London and buy a football club as his means of helping the UK.
Or the Saudis with their wellbeing of our population in their hearts, which they demonstrate by buying a football club.

Actually they used to believe in medieval times when we had absolute monarchy that Monarchs were appointed by God.

Even people below the poverty line, whatever that line is are upset the Queen is dead, and support a monarchy.
