Without Kulusevski we lose a lot. He offers creativity, ball retention, ball progression and 1v1 ability. You can't replace him with an out and out forward like Richarlison and expect to play the same
Richarlison and Son yesterday were unable to keep hold of the ball and so we could not sustain attacks. We had to rely on some 1 touch stuff coming off which more often than not breaks down
It's also a complete waste having Emerson basically play as a right winger during attacks as he offers nothing whatsoever in the final third. You wan't somebody there who can either take players on or provide good delivery, ideally both but he does neither
At some point I would like to see this:
Lloris
Romero Dier Lenglet
Bentancur Bissouma Hojbjerg
Kulu Kane Son/Richarlison Perisic
This gives us bodies in midfield so we don't get dominated there and also means the wide players can focus more on the offensive side. Kulu and Perisic on the wing can actually create, dribble and score
Forcing Son and Richarlison into the same team doesn't really work imo as they are similar profiles of players i.e second strikers who like to play on the last line of the defence and attack the box, but aren't great in possession

Counter-attacking football doesn't necessarily have to be ugly though. Am I misremembering, or wasn't his Chelsea side fairly good to watch at times?

Spurs are known for playing a far more aesthetic style of football (less so now right enough) but its always kinda of been a prerequisite for spurs fans.

Nah not really. Hazard was good to watch.
Son.."I just look at us as a team, but obviously individually I always want to do better. I've never been happy with my performance because I always want to do better things, amazing things but it doesn't always happen like that," he admitted. "I'm always watching [back] my games to see what I can do, what I can improve.
"Look, this season is still long, I'm working really hard to help the team. So it's not an issue, these two games, because we had tough games. Sometimes you have tough games and sometimes amazing games. It's all in your mind and so we need to move on even with these kind of tough games."
Would be nice of him to admit he cannot control a TV remote at the moment. Also he should say he needs to beef up because he is so weak on the ball.
It's time for him to be sold in summer or expect to be dropped to the bench.

It's much more noticeable when you lose or draw games you would have won had you been a bit more expansive. Plus, at Chelsea he had really attack minded wingbacks that helped push the whole team squeeze further up the pitch. Perisic is talented but he's lost a yard of pace so he's not as potent as I was expecting him to be and Royal gets a nosebleed when he goes over the halfway line. If we can get reliable, fast, forward thinking wingbacks we wouldn't be sitting as deep as we are. The whole game plan hinges on it for me and we don't have the personnel. We blew 90m on Richy and Bissouma and barely spent a penny out wide. That's on Paratici and Conte for not realising how vital it is to get the right players in those positions.

I must admit his control was awful last night, especially when you saw those two brilliant goals he scored with his left and right foot against Leicester. It's baffling how he can go from one extreme to the other so quickly.

He's two footed. Neither wing back is cutting in to be fair. They both maintain their wide positions, purely because the wide forwards cut inside allowing space on the overlap.
Alonso and Moses were hardly really attack minded wing backs.

Amazing really. He is World class Son, and yet this is what fans of the club are saying about him
It's clear that both he and Kane are suffering from Conte's management style, yet for some reason you seem to think it's on the players. They'd be opening up defences with ease this year if it weren't for the system that is being played.

They really weren’t. I’m not sure I’d describe Alonso ambling down the wing as rampaging. And Moses was a facking shiiiiit winger that was still shiiiit going forward under Conte, but was defensively solid.
What’s really night and day with what you have is central midfield, defence and goalkeeper. You also lack a player in the class of Hazard - the man basically carried Chelsea to two league titles.

In the summer. Yes . He will be 31 next July. Time to cash in. He is too weak on the ball and offered nothing in every game he has started this season so far.

They epitomise flakey Spurs.
Just because he used to be a crap attacker doesn’t mean he was a really attacking wing back. He was one of least important players in Chelsea’s attack that season, and I’m including cb’s in it. It’s why Conte wanted to replace him with facking Zappacosta.

Conte wanted to replace him with a more defensive FB ... no point arguimg. you think Moses wasnt an attacking FB despite him being an attacker his entire career prior to that and has played as winger his entire career after that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
At Chelsea I dont think the inverted the wingbacks either .... I havent watched you loads tbf but I assume that Perisic has been playing far more narrow than a traditional left footbed LWB would?
I argued with quite a few spurs fans on here saying that Conte would be best suited to using Perisic as RWB

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I must admit his control was awful last night, especially when you saw those two brilliant goals he scored with his left and right foot against Leicester. It's baffling how he can go from one extreme to the other so quickly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
strikes me as a the type of player that isnt entirely happy at the moment at the club, maybe isnt a fan of the training?

Conte was brought in to try and win things not to play attractive football. Its never been a trait of one of his teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Counter-attacking football doesn't necessarily have to be ugly though. Am I misremembering, or wasn't his Chelsea side fairly good to watch at times?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didnt think they were.. I just dont think his style showed up as being all that "ugly" as its chelsea and they havent been blessed with attractive football in their past.
Spurs are known for playing a far more aesthetic style of football (less so now right enough) but its always kinda of been a prerequisite for spurs fans.
when you bring in a manager that doesnt really buy into that its much more noticeable
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's much more noticeable when you lose or draw games you would have won had you been a bit more expansive. Perhaps Son could conceal a few nibbles in his shorts so he could tempt Royal with cheese.

Gil has to be the weakest footballer I have ever seen.
Looks like he has some skill but a slight breeze will knock him over.

Nah not really. Hazard was good to watch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough. I thought I remembered them playing some good counterattacking stuff against City specifically, and also against Arsenal or one of the other big sides.

He's two footed. Neither wing back is cutting in to be fair. They both maintain their wide positions, purely because the wide forwards cut inside allowing space on the overlap.

They were. For a start, Moses was already an attacking midfielder and Alonso was always rampaging down the left. He got so many goals and assists. It's like night and day by comparison to what we have.

Last night he was dreadful. Always losing the ball in the 2nd half. Thankfully Gil came on and was even worse lol
He is in decline now. Fans need to accept it.

In the summer he should be sold. I would do it in Jan if we can upgrade him and that should be fairly easy to do. The same goes for Hugo too but he should have gone last summer. If we want to get to where we would like to be we have get rid of these two.
They epitomise flakey Spurs.

Just because he used to be a crap attacker doesn’t mean he was a really attacking wing back. He was one of least important players in Chelsea’s attack that season, and I’m including cb’s in it. It’s why Conte wanted to replace him with facking Zappacosta.

how important he was is irrelevant.
Conte wanted to replace him with a more defensive FB ... no point arguimg. you think Moses wasnt an attacking FB despite him being an attacker his entire career prior to that and has played as winger his entire career after that.
