i think we need to be more disciplined at this level and expect that they will move players into exposed areas mate, not saying he should hug the line or anything but needs to be aware of the space in behind him as well, they midfield and a CB should have handled it.

we're not taking enough chances, i like maedas workrate but has he ever won a tackle?

The Japanese lads infuriate me with their lack of nastiness and kindness towards opposition players and officials!

Which kind of backs my point up-Jota wasn’t disciplined enough and let his man move into an area that left us exposed.

Glad we agree…

Was about to say we’ve still the two home games against the teams we believe we should be closer to.

They both have to pick up points as well to progress, so should be decent games.

i'll be honest i'm not sure i fancy our chances of beating RB at home, possibly donetsk.

That said, the lad Mudryk is dangerous, i honestly can't say we will have watched him in the first game, and come into the second game with any plan on nullifying him outwith "play our own game".

if we lose to RB @ home we need to hope Shaktar don't pick up anymore points for third.

i mention about us being naive defensively, if we are relying on Jota doing our defensive work on his own on the left then we are beyond help mate.

posted on 6/10/22

No one said we should rely on Jota doing all our defensive work-only that he should do his own defensive work.

Kills you to admit you actually agree with me.

posted on 6/10/22

Nah you cant pin last nights 3rd goal on Jota

Taylor vacated the space which then offered up the option for the fullback to run into and exploit

the guys got the run on Jota and starts ahead of him when he goes -

bottom line is if Taylor passes him on and hold a semblance of shape then that move cant happen

posted on 6/10/22

ah see you can't do that, you can't add "all" in there mate .

Just to cover the left hand side alone, seems unrealistic imo.

you just don't want to admit taylor shouldn't be that far across.

thats not even a knock on taylor, because he might be picking up the slack from where the midfield aren't doing their job.

posted on 6/10/22

ive just watched it again

hes not even marking anyone , hes just drifting in and leaving a big wide space to exploit

wtf is he doing ??

3rd goal is Juranovics fault, giving the ball away under no pressure, trying to play a mad 1-2 with Hatate

‘Taylor vacated the space which then offered up the option for the fullback to run into and exploit’

The move started on the opposite wing. Full backs always tuck in closer to their centre halfs. If he stayed out wide, the gap inside would have been mental!

‘the guys got the run on Jota and starts ahead of him when he goes’

Why is our winger closer to their goal than their full back when they have possession then?

He was tired and wasn’t paying attention-it happens. It left the whole left hand side exposed though because Taylor had taken the position that every full back takes in that circumstance-closer to his 2 CH’s.

Btw-is it centre halfs or centre halves?

good work !!

I suspect POV will now admit that Taylors postioning is the ultimate factor in the goal

thats ridiculous looking at that still , although hes followed forsberg there

I have been impressed with how Celtic have played in the three games. You haven't been outplayed in all those games. I think you need some fitness gurus who can improve your intensity throughout the 90 minutes or scout press resistant players who can run and have some technical ability to hold on the ball under pressure.

The Red Bull teams are doing that and have improved massively. Celtic should be able to invest in those areas.

worst bit about it is he's running back, where was he before that

We had the ball when he was moving forward-why would he be marking anybody at that point??

Who did you want him to mark-the guy that ran off Jenz to score?

He’s where it’s expected of him to be when we’ve got the ball-moving forward to midfield.

Jota is jogging back when we lose the ball. His man has already started sprinting and he can’t make the ground up.

Taylor isn’t blameless-none of them are-but to pin that goal on Taylor is crazy for me.

we have plenty of Sports Scientists ( various Fields ) involved with the first team , most teams do
there is also 5x data analysts for the first team alone . They all manage workload and intensity with the goal being to create the ultimate condition on Matchday

sometimes certain games are just faster and quicker and how you are with it on that particular day can vary immensely - despite having set routines.

top players tend to have a incredible fitness as well

Why is Jota further ahead of their full back?

That’s his man to cover when they’re attacking.

JFK thinks he should be marking somebody.

That’s the way we play. The FB’s push forward when we’ve got the ball. If it was a winger that had that space, I’d say there was something wrong with the positioning. It was their right back though that met the cross-with Jota nowhere near it.

Ach well.

Don’t know what you mean.

Might be implying that Jota shouldn’t have been marking the right back-and he shouldn’t have been. Their right back should have been marking Jota, in which case when we lost the ball, Jota should have gone with him.
