mate,
you said this
"Taylor was where he should have been to start with-tucked inside closer to the centre halfs."
he's no tucked in anywhere he's roaming wherever he likes
i'm not as worried about him pushing forward as i am about him pushing sideway
ir right back should have been marking Jota, in which case when we lost the ball, Jota should have gone with him.
============
I agree
his job for the most part is to try and exploit space or players when we attack -
in a quick transition - he will be caught out a little due to this , totally accept that . You cant have everything
Taylors in no mans land , when in fact he should be no further right than the centre circle and inline with his centre halfs -
His vacating of the area presents the chance and i think most would agree thats the lefts backs area the ball was played into
when in fact he should be no further right than the centre circle and inline with his centre halfs
=====
this is the simple point i've failed to articulate to be honest

No, I mean it. I don’t agree, but it’s fine.
I think Taylor is where he should be with the way we play. I think Jota let his man run off him. I don’t think Taylor should be in line with our CH’s if we’re attacking, and I think it’s just part of the learning curve. As Ghod pointed out-we shouldn’t have lost the ball there. That was the catalyst.
Of the reasons we lost that goal, where Taylor was is way lower down for me than the rest.
But that’s why we have a forum to discuss these things.
kinda game are you playing here?
i'm just baffled by the positioning tbh, yeah we were attacking and lost the ball, but even at that, why is he so far over the pitch?
I've spoken about this before, that ralston and taylor have a tendency to take the inverted role to the extreme.

Its likely something that doesn't come that naturally to a full back so they're probably always concentrating and forcing it. Can't blame them as do what the manager instructs should lead to games.

Really. You’d want to know why he’s on here all day instead of taking training.

‘Taylor vacated the space which then offered up the option for the fullback to run into and exploit’
The move started on the opposite wing. Full backs always tuck in closer to their centre halfs. If he stayed out wide, the gap inside would have been mental!
‘the guys got the run on Jota and starts ahead of him when he goes’
Why is our winger closer to their goal than their full back when they have possession then?
He was tired and wasn’t paying attention-it happens. It left the whole left hand side exposed though because Taylor had taken the position that every full back takes in that circumstance-closer to his 2 CH’s.
Btw-is it centre halfs or centre halves?

Centre backs.
