Pretty much agree with all of that.

I just don’t think we need to worry about it too much this year. Ronaldo was always leaving at the end of this season at the latest and I don’t want a panic January transfer. Get a proper target in

I wouldn't be against a short term deal or loan in January if that's all that is out there.

I really do think having someone who can play the position for the team and bring others into play would really help ETH at present. Hopefully, Martial can come back and get a good run of games. I could still see Ronaldo having a positive impact from the bench/rotation though if he's willing to play that role.

I agree with most of that but I don't think Ronaldo would be prolific in any top side these days other than maybe City but he wouldn't be on close to Haaland's tally.

Looking back on the Trippier incident it looks a penalty but as the OP said, Trippier wouldn't have got that chance a few years back.

Rashford is not the answer either but at least there is more end product there.

Ronaldo has 1 from play in 14 apps this season. I know they were not all starts but that doesn't cut it.

I also don't think he'd be as prolific as he once was but, even this season, if he was at City I'd expect him to at least match last season's respectable total.

Same here, we are likely gonna need two strikers in when Ronaldo leaves (Martial is too injury prone and Rashy is not the answer, centrally).

If we can use the January window to get one of those, even if it's a squad option type of signing... Then better now than in the summer

I’m not really a fan. Depends on the player though obviously

The lack of a decent CF is why we wont get top 4. We simply dont score enough goals! We need somebody capable of turning draws into wins. Yesterday was a great example of that. If we had a top draw striker we win that game.

Thursday was also a good example. We shouldnt need a last minute winner to get past the equivalent of a league 1 side. Although the keeper had a worldie we should be putting 3 past them. Better finishing needed.

I don’t remember the keeper making many saves you wouldn’t expect a professional keeper to make.

It's a real problem area of the pitch... I genuinely think Cavani would still be an option, that's how desperate we are.

But ultimately, ETH's focus is on playing in his way and the personnel will follow.

Fascinating to see who we look at in the next two transfer windows, as he must know this is a position that needs filling.

Easier said than done of course.

Let’s get Ighalo back.

I just happy that for the first time in a very long time we can

1. Pass the ball through the team from back to front
2. We can actually defend pretty well

2 out of 3 pretty much sorted. Now onto the forward line.

I disagree with whomever it was that said that we need two additions. I think with a new forward of Ten Hag’s choosing in addition to Rashford, Injury prone Martial, Sancho, Anthony - I think that’s more than enough to compete. I just don’t want a squad option, I want a nailed on first XI

Anyone know what Ighalo is up to at the mo?

I tend to agree with SatNav though (we always see eye to eye, don't we SatNav, eh?). We have too many square pegs in round holes to have the luxury of a short-term signing. Seems a bit of a stretch that we might find a loan player who is good enough to transform our system, or to bring in the right long-term striker in January.

One thing I'm a little disappointed in, so far, in the ETH reign is not giving any youngsters chances. If we're stuttering because we don't have the solutions in our senior squad, then isn't there a possibility that where we have an academy graduate whose profile is better suited to the needs of the team, isn't there a chance his inexperience offset by being a better fit? Of course there's a price to pay in the short term from letting a youngster learn and develop in the senior side, but at the moment we're also paying a price for having experienced players plugging holes in positions that don't suit them and also to some extent learning on the job.

In the end these come down to judgement calls, and I'm not in a position to say Ten Hag is making the wrong ones. Hopefully the master plan comes to fruition in due course.

He'd jump at the chance of coming back!

I actually wouldn't be against a short-term signing if they have similar attributes to what our long-term target has. I'd accept that it would be probably a 'lite' option though of course.

Joking aside, Ighalo from that January to lockdown (not long I know) was playing the CF role far better than Rashford and Ronaldo have this season.

Not sure Cavani’s all round game would suit what we need right now even if he was fully fit.

This site understands the Ronaldo situation much better than our general fan base. There are probably only a handful of posters on here who think Ronaldo I good enough.

We should try McT in there...

Physical presence
Decent finisher
Scottish
Would mean he's not right back

Imagine looking at a squad that have Maguire, Shaw, Mctominay, Fred, the author and Bruno in it and coming to the conclusion that the problem is a 5x Balon Dor winner.

posted on 17/10/22

This Manchester United team isn't good enough to 'carry' Ronaldo to enable him to keep scoring like we know he can.

But "carrying" the likes of Bruno, Shaw, McTominay and Rashford is absolutely fine apparently.

The most hilarious thing is people using workrate/pressing as an excuse to drop Ronaldo like the alternatives are pressing machines who leave everything out on the pitch

Imagine having to pretend to be a United fan to get you daily kick in life.

Also imagine how sad it must be to keep logging into a site you keep getting banned from and continuing the same charade over and over again.
