I probably remember further back if I really thought about it but the 1985 Cup Final for me. Remember my Dad broke the armchair leaping up when Big Norm scored. I though about that over the weekend funnily enough as there was an episode of Welcome to Wrecham where they eere talking about football memories with their Dads. That's a nice one for me to remember.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A really good Everton side, going for the double. United were underdogs really and down to 10 men. Quality.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Everton had just won the CWC in the midweek too. Top side.

Rapid Vienna? Again, I have a dim memory of that being on TV.

Two from the same year.

The ‘63 Cup Final 🙄…..😀 and Henry Cooper knocking Ali down just before the end of a round, the bell saving him.

See, I have zero memory of that although, as I said above, I think I do remember the 82 Olympics.

Obviously by 86 I was a lot older and I remember so many different things about it. But nothing from 82.

France 98 final.

Best wc final followed very closely by the 2018 final
----------------------------------------------------------------------

86 was a great final. 90 was good entertainment but not for the right reasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Italia 90 was the greatest WC ever. ROI
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope. Wrong. Very wrong.

The last decent World Cup was 1982. Every competition that followed was increasingly weaker & less uncompetitive.

Clockwork mentioned Moscow in an earlier post. Though he may mean 84 if he's struggling to remember 82

Sorry, yes - Moscow 80. I’d have been two but I’m sure I remember it, very vaguely. Yet nothing of World Cup 82, LA 84…

From footage, I seem to recall a guy with a jet-pack flying around in the opening ceremony.

Yeah that as well. It was in LA and the sun shone. Still my favourite Olympics.

'78 WC final is the first sporting event I have some memory of watching

The ‘73 FA Cup final, Sunderland v Leeds, Sunderland keeper had the game of game.

As an unreal spectacle The ‘78 World Cup final with all the controversies during and pre final KO but the atmosphere with the ticker tape and the pressure on the Argies to bring it home with that beautiful kit was just different gravy to a kid.

No Russians again like no yanks in Moscow took the sheen of both these olympics.

Probably the 86 world cup sports wise. Wasn't big into footy til then. Probably watched a few FA cups with my dad. Can vividly remember the Hillsborough afternoon.
