My mortgage needs renewing next October.

Not only have these Khants cut my wages by £12000 in 12 years, because of them I’m looking at extra £400 per month on my mortgage and an extra £300 per month on my energy bills after April

Liz truss didn’t even have the guts to face parliament yesterday

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel so sorry for you Smeg. This misery has been inflicted on you by Johnson, May, Cameron, and all the other Tories that constantly come out in the media saying they back the PM, no matter the damage they cause.

Yes Labour may not be much better, but at least they deserve a chance after 12 years of absolute chaos.

Wholesale energy costs have dropped dramatically over the last 2 months. They are still very high but perhaps they are banking on the cost of energy to continue dropping

Even if Energy prices do drop, do you seriously think the price to the consumer will drop? We are stuck with this price hikes for ever now. Everything always goes up, but never comes down.

Tory Ministers are being wheeled out this morning to defend Truss. It is this sort of nonsense that I really detest. They are all culpable for this mess, and the whole lot of them need to go.

There is absolutely no defending of Truss and the Cabinet for completely wrecking the economy, and in all probability a lot of people`s lives.

When will this shambles of a living crisis be over? Surely things will come down eventually? What with getting over a worldwide pandemic and now this. Utterly depressing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don, it will only end, when this self indulgent Tory Government call a General Election. They keep saying they want to do what is best for the country, but the refuse to call an Election.

I refuse to believe this is forever Sandy, no chance. The country would be on it’s knee’s and millions in poverty if this continues next year. Absolute no chance. Unless our wages fall in line with this ridiculous inflation, it simply has to come down.

Tories bleating about how we need stability, and cannot have a General Election.

Course we cannot, otherwise they would get absolutely trounced.

Time people took to the streets, to demand a General Election. This simply cannot be allowed to carry on. Just pandering to what the Tory Party wants.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We need to get to the streets and all refuse to pander to the ridiculous price hikes Sandy
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Price hikes partly caused by Tory Policies. The rise in mortgages was a direct result of the Tory Mini Budget, but they just won`t own their monumental feck up that is going to cause misery to lots of people.

They cannot keep blaming everything on Global circumstances and the Ukraine War. It`s a total nonsense.

Well I’m one of the luckier ones where me and my family are secure financially if things continue. Thankfully we won’t be in trouble, but millions will be. Sorry mate, but I refuse to believe this is going on forever. There will be anarchy if it does because people can only accept it for a period of time.

Tbh things will more than likely be worse in April than today. Manufacturers and wholesalers are going to have to offset the increase of energy costs onto their retailers who in turn will have to do the the same thing to us, the consumers. It’s been a long time coming. The cost of wholesale energy is actually cheaper today than this time last year, yet nobody was talking about it back then strangely enough.

I didn`t say it would last forever, but it will go on for a while. Let`s be fair if you factor in the Tory Austerity programme for a lot of people, this has already gone on for 12 years.

Whilst I do not have a mortgage, I am limited in my income because I am a Pensioner, so Energy rises are a real concern, as are everyday things like buying essentials.

Problem with a refusal to pay Don, is then you could get a bad credit rating, and that means you will be refused so many things because of it. What the Government needs to do is to say no one should have their credit rating downgraded if they simply cannot afford to pay.

And yes I will vote Labour next general election, unfortunate that I feel that has to be stipulated.

Sensible debate has been tried and failed

If anyone is still voting Tory they are either part of a very select group of wealthy selfish cants with a dodgy interest or a moron.

No point debating in this case. If someone still plans to vote Tory even now there's no reasoning left.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Guess we can close the psychological inquiry into political voting then. Turns out Tories are all stupid or evil. Simple

I agree 100% with everything the OP says. On interest rates however we all need a reality check. They were never, and could never, stay at the historic low levels they were at. They were always going to climb, and they are still very low in the grand scheme of things. It's why everyone got stress tested when they took out their mortgage. I could have borrowed twice what I ended up doing but didn't because this day was always coming. The mini budget has accelerated it but anyone who thought interest rates were staying at 1% forever is in dreamland. Unfortunatey.

I also get that real wages have fallen for many which is only compounding the issue and making it difficult to plan ahead financially. It's a mess for sure.

Well to continue this discussion we need to define stupidity and evil as well as their opposing concepts, as this would dictate to what extent individuals are capable of voting in/against self interest without being classified as stupid or evil. However I doubt this will be a productive conversation. I just hope we aren't on a terminal course towards the mutual hatred exhibited by the Democrats and Republicans across the pond, it only serves to polarise opinions further imo.

This completely.

Too many jaundiced views on all sides of political discussion these days. Bottom line we live in a democracy and personally I respect and want to uphold that more than anything. I want the ability to vote how I choose and whichever party gets the most votes, then go with it. I'll respect anyone who votes how the hell they want. I just don't get those who don't bother.

All the above said, the Tories right now are incredibly hard to love.
