It's not that bizarre. The defender intentionally plays the ball so it's a new phase, simple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure you'd be saying that if it was at the other end. 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Happened to us a couple of times. It's just the rules and has been for ages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But do you think the rule is a good rule?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah why not? Awful defending, just leave it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Leave it? How is he supposed to know the defender is off? Even the fking linesmen aren't expected to know if players are off these days

It might well be correct but the rules are an ass. Salah only gets in that position because he's offside therefore he's gaining an unfair advantage in my eyes. That goal shouldnt count for any team including my own.

How is it not Off? Different angle?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t get it it’s off, we played the ball to a player who was directly interfering with play and the defender panicked as a consequence of Salah being there 🤷🏽
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He wasn't directly interfering with play. I'm fact, he wasn't interfering with play whatsoever until after the defender touched it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, the rule makes complete sense. If he hadn’t touched it Salah would have been offside.
It’s not rocket sconce.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you both being serious here? Has to be the stupidest rule in the game
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? Do you think attackers should be offside from backpasses by defenders?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If the defender has clearly done that backpass because of the position of the offside player then yes I do
That was shocking from Jiminez

Behave - you've only got 1 pair of eyes so can't look everywhere. Personally I think Salah is offside as the ball is kicked and a defender acting to stop the ball going to that offside player shouldn't make Salah onside now

Against Leicester the defender deliberately played the ball and it flew into his own net despite no Liverpool player being bear him. So we can never know if a defender plays a back pads because of a specific player or not.

By looking? Why shouldn't you become onside once the opposition has played it the ball anyway?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Behave - you've only got 1 pair of eyes so can't look everywhere. Personally I think Salah is offside as the ball is kicked and a defender acting to stop the ball going to that offside player shouldn't make Salah onside now

How is it not Off? Different angle?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t get it it’s off, we played the ball to a player who was directly interfering with play and the defender panicked as a consequence of Salah being there 🤷🏽
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He wasn't directly interfering with play. I'm fact, he wasn't interfering with play whatsoever until after the defender touched it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, the rule makes complete sense. If he hadn’t touched it Salah would have been offside.
It’s not rocket sconce.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you both being serious here? Has to be the stupidest rule in the game
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The ball came off the defender so I’m struggling to see why anyone would have a problem with it??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Salah was offside when the ball was played. If he wasn't he'd not have got the ball from the passback. The law is the problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But he didn’t receive the ball directly from a Liverpool player, if he had he would have been offside.

Their player played the ball, so he isn't offside. That's the point, don't over think it.

Why? Do you think attackers should be offside from backpasses by defenders?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If the defender has clearly done that backpass because of the position of the offside player then yes I do
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Prove it?
Against Leicester the defender deliberately played the ball and it flew into his own net despite no Liverpool player being bear him. So we can never know if a defender plays a back pads because of a specific player or not.

I don’t think you’re understanding the conversation. Everybody agree that the goal was rightly allowed and Salah wasn’t offside because of the offside rule but they are discussing the merits of the rule.

It's not that bizarre. The defender intentionally plays the ball so it's a new phase, simple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure you'd be saying that if it was at the other end. 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Happened to us a couple of times. It's just the rules and has been for ages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It might well be correct but the rules are an ass. Salah only gets in that position because he's offside therefore he's gaining an unfair advantage in my eyes. That goal shouldnt count for any team including my own.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He isnt offside until he interferes. It isnt an offence to be in an offside position itself.
Otherwise you could pass the ball to your centre mid and it's a free kick because your striker was offside. That's why they brought in the interference rule
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't agree. The ball was aimed at him and he's stood in the middle of the pitch behind the defence. How is that not interfering? Like I said it's the law that's an ass.

I'm sorry but are you genuinely suggesting the wolves defender didn't do that header because of salahs positioning? It is clear as anything that he did.
