If that was at Anfield and a push in Salah's back, it's given 100% of the time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it's not.
Op
That was the clearest penalty you will get all season. For some reason though the Ref and VAR thought a push in the back in the penalty area was not a foul. Ridiculous it was not given.
Cancelo saw red for similar yesterday.

Absolutely, as would the high boot in the area. Liverpool really had the ref in their pocket today. Surprise, surprise.
I thought it was a pen but tbf it was one of those ones where the VAR lads would always go with the ref on the pitch, as it wasn't like he chopped him in half.
I thought it should’ve been overturned tbh

Especially how soft the penalty for Man City was yesterday. I sometimes wonder whether Refs and VAR are actually watching the game. Or do they just guess these decisions.

He didn`t have to chop him in half. He put his hand on him, and clearly pushed him over. Which is a PENALTY.
Should have been a penalty kick imo.

Would have. Salah would have done a double back salto tucked with a full twist.
No doubt you'll still claim that there's no conspiracy against Spurs though
Was funny that the same incident happened 10 mins later outside the box and the ref gave it.
Personally thought it was a pen, but a soft one and probably not something that should get overturned.

I think this is very true. ie if the ref gave a pen I doubt VAR would've overturned it.
It was a penalty all day long, but regardless of that the ref was extremely poor all day.
Not blaming that for defeat like some will but I thought he was awful
We have had Mings literally pick Saka up and throw him and no penalty, then some Southampton defender bearhug Gabriel J to stop him having a clear shot on goal and nothing.
Then you will have the slightest brush leading to a penalty.
Who knows anymore.
When you see it from the side angle it's nailed on which is why VAR should have sent the ref to the monitor.
Also what about the foul on Hojbjerg on the edge of their box, how did that not get given?

Yep, there's not a chance it would have been overturned. You were hard done by on that occasion. Tbh you were unlucky to lose over the course of the game. Created more chances than Liverpool, hit the woodwork twice, denied a penalty etc.
The Sky commentators would have had you believe that Liverpool were absolutely sublime but that really wasn't the case at all
He hardly touched him, geezer went down too easily.
Looked pretty blatant to me.
I think though that for VAR to intervene, this would feel like re-reffing a game rather than correcting mistakes.

Yeah that one was clear as day. As grandspurs said above, the ref had a bit of a shocker - didn't give the pen on Sess, missed the foul on Hojbjerg, didn't penalise two very high boots from Liverpool players...
The ref didn't exactly cost us the game. But he certainly didn't help!

Check the laws of the game there is nothing that says how hard you have to be pushed for it to be a penalty

But he did touch him, and enough for him to go down. That`s a penalty if it is in the box, which it was.
