The oil industry spends billions every year to suppress the development of other forms of energy. We can spend 34 billion on track and trace app when that amount can fill a whole desert with solar panels.

Its very doable IMO and I reckon we could do it if the will was there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That gives you electric at your socket. But it won't power boats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you serious? Why can't you plug a boat at a dock?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I'm serious. How many batteries would container ships need. How long could trawlers stay out fishing.?
What materials are needed for a battery.?
What is it's life span.?
Can ferries be battery powered.?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And this is exactly the kind of technology that is either suppressed or not pushed as hard as it should be considering the stakes. All energy research is snail's pace.

Container ship - Take out the massive engine and put in a massive battery?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some fooking charger for that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The plug could double as an anchor.

You said boats. Now it's container ships and ferries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are all boats to me, genuinely, just with different names. Rowing boat upwards.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Gonad could explain the difference.

If they can power electric busses trains trucks and planes, then I'm sure an electric boat is not far off
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They can fly, but so far 124 miles maximum, with one person. I got it just now from wiki, so it could be miles out of date. But 400 people New York-London seems a long way off.
And again, are there any problems making all these batteries, and do they have a n end of life.
Is there enough power to charge them all?

Heart Aerospace, a Swedish start are developing a 30 seated plane with an 800km range. The have advance sales to Air Canada, Portuguese airline, and United.

As long as all cyclists are forced to wear natural materials like wool and not the hydrocarbon intensive lycra and equivalents.

Of course, 92.3% of cyclists want to be assumed to be serious cyclists and not your recreational cyclist and are likely to resist not being allowed to dress like Mr Pogacar lest they are not taken seriously. They also would not be happy using designated cycle lanes that are wholly appropriate for your recreational cyclist that only has 25 gears or heaven forbid straight handlebars. No, they would much rather use the road like serious cyclists and slow down motorists so they spew more emissions. Oh, and most important resist battery assistance so they can demonstrate their alpha male testosterone fuelled @rse wobble up 15% inclines because serious road cyclists don't have battery assistance.

Etc.

So you are saying that more money needs to be spent on adequate, segregated cycle infrastructure instead of things for cars? I like your point.

I'm saying that if the country spends hard earned to put it in place then there should be a similar penalty for not using it as there would be should I choose to drive my car down the pavement.

And you should wear hair shirts for largely being poncy vvanks anaw.

They are cvnts. On sidewalks, bike paths, and the fekin road. And I've heard of motorists being charged for running over them. PC gone mad.

Seeing as the transport hierarchy has now changed so that pedestrians and cyclists are top priority and cars bottom priority, I hope you will be happy with a drain ridden, pothole filled, narrow section of the road where you have to dodge in and out of parked bikes whilst cyclists try to shoot you through your driver window as they pass you. Drivers don't pay road tax so shouldn't be on the road.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you dare come out of your inadequate provision for cars, then I have every right to kill you. We paid for your stupid car lane that we don't need. Now use it or we will injure you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also going to remove the car lane that goes past your house so that I can park my 40 bikes there (equivalent of one car so not unrealistic). Oh you want to drive there? Too bad, I want to park my 40 bikes there pal. Deal with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also when I go past your house on my bike, I will spray a massive can of diahorrea at your house. Oh your house and surrounding area are being polluted by someone going past spewing out diahorrea? WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO THAT? Too bad. It's the way it is.

Context.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Conscious that liquid can't really infiltrate the cracks between your windows, so may provide a service that heats the diahorrea as it reaches your windows, turning it into gas, so it seeps through the cracks and infects your kids with diseases.

THEN you will understand your current actions that are seen as accepted. Just proposing what you are already doing.

Sounds crazy, I know.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just one thing.

YAAAAASSSSSSSSSSS!

You've been Barry'd, Barry.

Now be sure to keep the speed up on your gas guzzling brick of a camper van and cut the cr@p about parking it outside the city and taking the bus to pick it up so you don't pollute the city when we know you can park fck all in Edinburgh without paying the tram premium for the privilege is a more likely reason.

Oh, and Quinn isn't going to give you a gobble.

Enjoy your day, Barry.

Me and Quinny will meet eventually on the hills. MU52 for wine. We will overcome all barriers put before us that tell us that pensioners and 30 something little shiites can't be friends.
