Morespurs, just the last couple of weeks? It`s a wonder Spurs have any fans still living. Pretty well every game goes down to the wire.

Sanchez can't play in Diers position.
We nee at least 2 new center backs and at least one in January

I could not agree more with the OP dreadful simply awful and Dier has been like it all season. How the hell is he going to the WC?

To give him his due I think Davies has done ok to be kept as a squad player but Lloris, Royal, Sanchez and Dier should have been gone before the season started.

As for Lloris I commented on his awful distribution 3 years ago and got shot down but now he is a damned liability. I do actually wonder if all the short goal kicks are to hide the fact that Lloris cannot kick a damned ball properly.

talking about just Dier errors. 3 games 3 erros, 3 goals conceded.

The worst part is that all of them were self inflicted errors. He is not a CB and will never be

I have been saying this for over 3 years at least. He ain't a CB. Tall and built like a wardrobe does not maketh a CB!

All of Dier, Davies, Royal, Doherty and Sanchez need getting rid of - just a collective waste of skin.

Address it in Jan and we finish top 4 comfortable I reckon

Yeah right addressing it last July might have helped a lot more but our "world class" manager wanted Richarlson and everybody knows that what we needed urgently was another striker that cost a fortune

it will make a huge diff to us to have the turfed out.
no other top 4 side would have them!

Dier is awful. Offers nothing bar the odd decent 50 yard diagonal pass.

I really wanted dier to be good enough. There’s a player in there somewhere but not here anymore. He only plays well alongside Romero. Without a better cb alongside him, he’s awful.

I’m gutted, but he has to go now.

But let’s not pretend Sanchez and royal aren’t worse.

Our world class manager wanted Skriniar, Bastoni, Hakimi and Gvardiol but old T. rex arms wouldn’t pony up.

Instead Baldilocks came up short……….. again

No point ranking which of our defenders is the worst, they are all terrible and need shipping out bar Romero

Really? If I were manager I would have wanted Messi, Mbappe, Lewondoski, Ronaldo, Bobby Moore, Jude Bellingham and Franz Beckenbaur and if I did not get them then I could whine like crazy pick players that I knew were crap. Devised a system that that in no way suited the players I did have and picked the same crap that let me down every week and I would expect full backing from the likes of you because it would not have been my fault it would have been Levy's.

Sounds about right in your world where the THFC bank account is endless and everybody in the world wants to play for us.

Some clubs have only got 1 defender, that they consider awful/liability… we have 4 or 5!!!

I agree totally and we had them last season as well but did our manager go flat out to get replacements for our defence or did we spend the majority on a forward and a midfield player?

No he spent the majority of our budget on forwards and midfield players wow thats top line management in anybodies books.

I will remember when my boiler at home is making a bad noise I will go and buy a new laptop then complain when I freeze to death with no central heating and cannot get a new boiler for 5 months.

===================

When Conte joined us, we were playing in the Confereunce league in Europe and placed 9th. In 12 months, we have progressed to be in the top 4 in a topsy turvy season when injuries have taken their toll. The squad depth is an illusion because they depth is made up of players that are very average at best in quality.

There is no way Messi and the like will come to Spurs, and thinking that way is naive. Spurs have not won anything yet in over 10 years, and Messi and his ilk, like to go to clubs that have either history of winning trophies, or are spending like crazy to build a trophy winning side.
As for Spurs. It will take 3-4 years to get anywhere near where the top sides like City are. City may lose the odd game, but they will be shoe-ins for winning trophies.
We are still in the phase 1 where we have to weed out more rubbish, and find defenders of quality who can defend to bolster the side alongside Romero and Lenglet.

Just watching Newcastle v Chelsea. Now they ain't worldbeaters. But they have a couple of decent no nonsense CBs, that don't phanny about on the ball, and they clear the ball well out of danger. And they defend balls into the box from set pieces properly.

Yep and when Eddie Howe went to Newcastle they were in a hell of a lot worse position than we were when Conte came to us.

They spent 30 mill less than us last summer and now have the joint best defensive record in the prem and are above us in the league as well as having taken 3 points at our ground. Considering we hammered them at home last year who is the top class manager after spending less Conte or Howe. There were not even in a european competition and we relegation candidates for hallf of last season.

Strange dont you think that they can be in a better position than us after spending less.

Some good points. I am a fan Howe and I think he is doing a great job there. However, they are not playing in Europe and therefore have had the chance to rotate the squad which has helped them as they have been playing with a high tempo press game.
This is why you mention them because they have been superbe. However, if you play teams that have extra games then you being fresh, will always do well.

We are 1 point behind them and in the next stages of CL, would you swap that with Newcastle's predicament?

Yes in a heartbeat
We wont go much further in the CL and I think they will finish above us in the league and they dont have to listen to their manager whining like hell every week

For me we need to shift Doherty and Emerson. Then need to go!

Davies, Dier and even Sanchez are decent back ups. No more. They should only play if we riddled with injuries or in the league cup every year.

Lenglet seems an ok footballer. Romero has the ability.

We are two quality CBs and a top RWB short of a great team.

I hope Spence and Udogie are the answers next season at WB. Whether we will even be playing that system next season though, remains to be seen.
