‘He stayed in the EPL with an average budget of something mental like 9m a year im sure. Thats massively punching above tour weight and playing team with better players IMO.’
According to transfermrkt-not the best I agree-he spent over €188 million on transfer fees in the last 6 years. There were some big transfers out during that time obviously-rinsing Newcastle for £25 million helped-but he had a decent budget for players most season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
👍 I wonder too in a league where he needs to dominate teams if he can do that. The SPFL Premiership is not the English championship, you get a higher % of teams sitting deep and “low blocking” up here, which presents its own challenges of how one sets a team up. It is in part why Gio looked a good appointment given his time at Feyenoord where there’s a large proportion of opponents who are at a lower level to the team he was managing. He got 42million to invest at feyenoord and importantly time. I would’ve thought the brains at rangers could recognise that the end of a cycle was coming and significant reinvestment was required, and could be helpfully supported/financed by making a Europa final and champs league group stages. I guess not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
no point in looking to much into that IMO. very few clubs replicate out sceanario.
If you were gonna go down that route then the best fits for us would be managers of Linfield !
dominate teams domestically, dont have the money of the leagues around them do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s a risk taking on a manager with the “portfolio” of dyche. Dutch league a really decent market particularly managers at top end of it given how unequal it is. Possibly Turkish and Portuguese leagues too. And whoever it is will need time and money to rebuild the squad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
there is risk in any appointment. look for the least amount of risk and I think Dyche fits the bill.
Doesnt need huge amounts of money, has shown he can win a league, has shown he can cut it at the highest levels.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Entitled to that position. Time may tell if he has the tactical nous to set up against teams employing the low block. I think unfortunately for youz he will need more money than Gio was afforded in order to compete with Celtic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
its all theoretical....at this moment in time if Dyche was appointed I wouldnt be dissapointed.

Duncan Ferguson is absolutely nonsense. He played for Rangers for like 2 years about 28 years ago. He got a good interim manager bounce at Everton because of his status amongst Everton. He doesn't have that at Rangers or a managerial record.
They gave Gerrard a chance and it took 3 years. They brought in GVB and gave him 1 year. Ferguson is too big a risk for them now. They need to break the bank now. Or if they play it safe it's more likely to be Robbie Neilsen or Neil Lennon
