Great finish tonight. I’d never heard of him before tonight so looked him up. 29 years old but has 10 goals in 14 Bundesliga games this season but a fairly modest career before then. He played in the 2nd tier last season. Could be a late developer or a flash in the pan.

Who in our board is it that’s been banging on about Jonathan David for a while?
Imo he’s failed his audition to impress the rest of our board so far this WC.
I fully trust ETH. If he wants Gakpo to be our new CF then I'm totally fine with that. He knows far more than any of us do and about him too no doubt with his Dutch connections.
With the emergence of Garnacho too we should have enough firepower.
I know people want an orthodox number 9 but I'm struggling to think of one who we'd get anyway. Toney is one to keep an eye on though for sure.

In all seriousness though, his versatility could be an asset. Looks like he can play from the sides or any central role, and with Fred & presumably Beekers seeming like they’ll be gone next summer, and the jury still out on Sancho, someone who can come in and cover two or three positions (including CF) could be just the ticket.
Still need a specialist CF though, Kudus or no Kudus.
I think Jonathan David's best performances have been playing as a support striker and with a partner. Played a lot with Yilmaz up front at Lille.
Darren that's true and I've mentioned it before a few times that Ten Hag doesn't necessarily require a top level striker for his teams to succeed at the highest level.
It’s worth considering that we haven’t got a facking clue what will happen under new ownership, to be fair.
We could conceivably end up in a position where £300m can be spent on the team, in which case Harry Kane has to be someone we look to sign and still be able to address many other areas.
