i suspect they are thinking the long game. Taking a chance with keeping things tight thinking the long covid is a thing. Nobody knows if it is or isn't.

There’s been a huge increase in people of working age on long term sick in the UK and other European countries but we are the worst affected in Europe

Are you insinuating there is a direct relationship?

The cure for COVID is called the midterm elections. Unfortunate the Chinese don't have that capability.

How are you pro-lockdown after what has happened in the States and the UK.

The UK plan was probably the right one, lockdown until a vaccine is rolled out very quickly. The execution however was god awful from our government.

Oh don't get me wrong, when there was too much uncertainties surrounding the COVID virus, the lockdown was the correct move. I think some of the local governments here in the US did the right move rolling back lockdowns as early as they can. Our democratic mayor in Houston had many of the businesses reopen under certain protocol and we are free to move about how we want as long as there wasn't too many people indoors in one place.

However, today? I think that's taking it a bit too far.

The US facked it so badly. They could have been pro active early and closed borders and protected the economy and been in a fantastic position right now. Catastrophic fack up in the end though and a huge recession on its way just so trump and his clowns could appeal to the redneck inbreeds out in the sticks.

They did try to do this. You don't remember Pelosi and her friends playing down COVID fears and saying the Trump was xenophobe in Chinatown San Francisco?

Politics got in the way of everything here on a federal level and the only states that did it correctly are the ones that has most people moving there in the last 2 years.

Do you have proof of this? They said Trump was a xenophobe for completely different reasons, not to play down covid.

None of the states handled covid well and people are moving to certain states for completely different reasons that you seem to think.

I've an extended family member who lives in Shanghai. She knows somebody who was locked in Ikea for a week as somebody in the building tested positive.

Sounds fine. You could sleep in a different bedroom every night.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've heard of people being lost in IKEA for weeks looking for an exit.

Lockdowns were never needed for a 99.97% (THEIR FIGURES) survival rate which pretty much equals 'carry on as usual'. The problem that the brighter among us faced was the dimmer among us following everything they were told.

Just saying.
