Poch, I like but he's chatting sheite here, of the ref missed it then changed his mind after a VAR intervention and reviewing it on the screen then that's fair enough, I agree the City game they should have had a pen but this is a different game and different situation?

I've seen it a few times and that, imo anyway, was a foul
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The referee had a perfect view of it though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh I agree there but he was wrong imo? And whilst I am NO fan of VAR that was a foul there, it was a shove and I agree the ref should have seen it first time around but somehow didn't?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s difficult. I agree it looked a foul but if we’re going to start using VAR so that the VAR official can tell the referee that he disagrees with a decision he had a perfect view of in real time, we’re into a problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I agree 100% here I do think the ref should be the final arbitrator of the calls and decisions in a game but with the current set up with VAR, and not a set up I'm happy with then when he's wrong it can be changed like it was here?

I don't think football is an exact science and over the years I've watched it there have been calls I've obvs disagreed with but just swallowed the mistakes, kinda feel it's only gonna get worse moving forward

The problem is that it’s a subjective decision.

I can understand why it wasn’t given, even though I don’t agree.

There’s no correct and incorrect with these. It’s a matter of opinion, so apparently the VAR’s opinion is more important than the referee actually in charge of the game.

But it's for clear and obvious errors, not necessarily things the ref didn't see. And this one was pretty obvious

Why will they? In this instance he overturned it because it he felt it was the correct decision. Or are you saying reffing is now done based on peer pressure?

Oh come on. It’s well documented that referees simply don’t push back once VAR has intervened.

If you can’t agree with that then this is pointless.

And I’d suggest there’s plenty of occasions where refs do feel pressured to follow the VAR official.
