Yeah, I get that it's hard to make it black and white but it's been so bad this year it can't really get any worse.
I don't like the current application of the offside law but at least it's easy to see what's right and wrong

Shearer not showing any bias against Utd, is he? God, I hate him!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Missed the first one, but thing the last two were right. Can't get my head around the handball rule though between that one, the pen you gave away in the semi and the one that wasn't looked at for Grealish. Altogether it makes no sense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That handball was identical to the one awarded against AWB the other day. If a ball strikes your hand and the arms are in a natural position then it should not be a pen, AWBs posture would suggest his arms were in a natural position as were there Burnley players. Neither, for me, were pens but if a ref deemed AWBs a pen so should the one against the Burnley player. At least be consistently wrong.

As do I. No point in being hypocrites about it. We were (rightly) aggrieved about that pen on Sunday, so I'm not going to call for one for that today. VAR really should have intervened on Sunday but it's done and we scraped through anyway

Really? I'd have thought they were the team who'd been facked over the most. I suppose it all depends on how you define "beneficiary." If it's just VAR overruling an incorrect call against them, then it's not so much benefitting as a wrong being righted.
And I'm guessing that must be how it's calculated as talking about being incorrectly awarded calls by VAR would be too subjective from an analytical perspective

Just some consistency would be a start.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The clamour for consistency is part of what got the game into this mess.
Just let referees use judgement about whether they think a player deliberately used their arm to affect the ball.
If the player had clearly handled it deliberately or put their arms in a position where they’re hoping to affect the ball, it’s handball.
Anything else is not.
It’s so facking basic, but the push for black and white application of the laws has led us to punishing people because the ball hits their arm, which in truth is no different to the ball hitting them anywhere else on the body.
Chelsea have to be in the hat for VAR decisions against them...buts that's par for our course this year... we've been shat mainly
