It’s wrong if he’s getting 350k a week for doing nothing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lost a close family member early last year (missed training and games in January if I remember rightly), and has reportedly had other family issues.
These kind of things can take a serious toll for any kid before adding the pressure and exposure that come with playing elite level football.
Hope he’s doing OK and the club are helping him work through it all properly and at the right pace. Some things are far more important than football.
Wonder how much of it is a psychological issue rather than any fitness or injury concern.
----------------------
I think that's undoubtedly the case.
Really wish people would just respect that too. Had Rio mouthing off the other day about how the club need to give some 'clarity' over the situation, like it's any of his facking business.

Didn’t one of his mates from the City academy die a year or two ago as well? I’m sure I remember reading that.
Agree with the rest of your post. It’s good to see the club are trying to really help him.

Rio has long seemed like a guy who likes to convey an image of being close to the club, whilst not being informed on anything worthwhile
Sounds like he's going in the right direction.
Well handled by ETH.
It’s obvious what the problem is.
His agent forgot to tell him that a move to United meant he was stuck on the wrong side of Brexit.
Didn't Rashford say that last season his head was elsewhere and he's turned things around so hopefully Sancho can do the same but if not I just hope the lad gets all the help he needs with his mental health
Rashford did, yeah. But he didn’t have the same issues outside of football that Sancho supposedly has.

I mean, he's already demonstrated that he doesn't have much inside knowledge or clarity around the sensitivities of even former teammates after his remarks about Phil Jones.
I've no idea what he's been saying about Sancho, but I'd have hoped the Jones episode might have taught him something.
Maybe Rio knows the situation and doesn't want to be the one to reveal it. But his statement was more than the club should give more information so fans and media don't speculate.
In addition to traumatic events mentioned above, Sancho has been dealing with the pressures of elite football since the age of 17 or so. The relentless sporting demands. Being under the media and social media microscope. That can take a toll on anyone's mental health, but even if it's not a case of his basic wellbeing, I find it easy to imagine becoming mentally fatigued in a way that isn't debilitating, but takes off your motivational edge sufficiently to have a telling impact on performance levels. I hope he's fine, and whatever the details (which are rightly kept private), I'm glad the club appears to be taking an enlightened approach by giving him the time, space and support he needs.
By the way, Rashford is an example of how big a difference being in the right mental condition can make.

Nobody is asking for anybody to feel bad for Sancho ( and I'm sure many people here don't ) but whatever he's going through mentally right now is bigger than football.
Let's at least understand that
Hopefully his break in Holland helped and good to see the club don’t seem to be pressuring him back any time soon. Like Russian said, just look at Rashford and how mental and physical factors can drastically effect your performance. Good to see EtH taking action and trying to give Sancho the help he needs.
