I hope we start thinking twice about signing players for 80m and upwards personally as not a single one so far has been a success anyway.
It probably puts a lot of pressure on them too which is unfair in a lot of cases.
Pogba, Lukaku, Maguire, Sancho, Antony etc.
Still time for Sancho n Antony to come good of course and I think we all agree Maguire's time will soon come to an end.

We’ve not had much success with players over £25m the last decade either.
He’s been ok but needs to improve massively. 5 goals, adds balance to the team, works hard but he needs to do much more in possession.
I reckon there’s a player there yet.
Just watched the first 70 mins in MUTV and Antony wasn't too bad in terms of some nice touches and link up but lacked a thread going forward. In fairness, we never worked the ball into positions that allowed our attackers to receive in dangerous areas.
We were fairly comfortable in possession without ever really having any cutting edge beyond the goal itself and one or two half-moments (a volley from Shaw just wide, Weghorst's header, the McT penalty appeal and the Casemiro one at the very death).
In fairness, we never worked the ball into positions that allowed our attackers to receive in dangerous areas.

This has been an issue all season. Would be interested to see if there are any stats for how many touches our attackers are getting within 30 yards of goal compared to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, City and Brighton.

Hafi. Do you have the stats?
I wouldn’t trust that they were correct even if he did.

Yea. Based on the Palace game, our attacks break down too quickly and we don't getting the ball in those sorts of positions and sustain attacks. And Bruno is by far and away the worst offender.
I know people like to cite the chance making stats, pressing stats etc when it comes to Bruno, but the ball just doesn't stick enough. Rashford is guilty in the build-up, too. He's in great scoring form but too often runs into traffic or is sloppy with his one and two touch stuff.
I watched Arsenal against Spurs and it was striking how often they'd get Saka and Martinelli into advanced one v one situations and cause problems for the opposition. Odegaard pulling the strings with tight, tidy technical play as well as offering a chance making and goal scoring threat is the kind of thing we should be getting from Bruno.
far too early, hes not old is he? hes signed for im guessing min of 5 years lol price aint his fault. hes was never worth that but thats what was required to sign him when you did.
It’s a systemic issue as well. Arsenal are playing a lot higher up the pitch than we are, so when they do get it to the forwards they are inevitably closer to goal. Saka and Martinelli being fantastic at beating their man helps massively.
I think Bruno’s improved a bit this season in terms of sloppiness, but it is still an issue. Particularly because he’s not the best at dribbling, I think that causes us more issues than some of his passes.
But the bigger issue to sustaining attacks is still systemic, because we’ve improved our counter pressing but aren’t playing high enough up the pitch for extended periods of time for it to benefit us as much as it does the teams I mentioned.
Troussard would have been better. Sneaky feeling murdryk too. I knew he was always overrated. His highlight reel where the same old tricks which didn't showprogress after they were done.
He'll need to relearn football completely to be any use to us.
Trossard and Mudryk aren’t right wingers.
We should've signed Marcus Edwards and used the money left over for another midfielder.
A new keeper would probably have been the most valuable signing we could have made.
Yeah perhaps.
I hope a new GK is still on the agenda.
We really need a gk, cm, cf and rb.

I find it baffling how many times posters say "we should have got X player", with no awareness at all that that player plays in a position in which we're well stocked.

Should still be able to tell what side a winger plays from highlight reels. Unless they’ve watched those poorly edited ones where the video is mirrored and it shows them playing on the opposite side.

I've a feeling that unless there's a major stumbling block over De Gea's new contract (which reports indicate we're trying to lower his salary), we won't be signing a new GK. Prior to this season I'd have liked us to look for alternatives, but I think there's been enough progress in some of the weaker aspects of his game to suggest he's work keeping. At least, that's the stance I think ETH will take.
All I want for Xmas though is that we sign Mohammed Kudus.
We’ll definitely be after a keeper, but the level of that keeper will depend on our finances. De Gea still lacks the qualities needed for us to play out from the back to a high level and to play a high line.
Hopefully with new owners we can have a big old clear out and bring in some top players for the positions I mentioned, plus a cb and dm to cover for Varane and Casemiro.
Plus let’s be honest, De Gea’s not even stopping shots like he used to so that needs upgrading anyway.
That's what worries me.
I still don't think De Gea's command of his area, distribution and choice of pass are of the required level for a more ball dominant side.
I think his sweeping is something that has improved slightly but again it's still not good enough.
He just has such a negative impact on the team nowadays. He’s one of my favourite ever United players, but he really shouldn’t be first choice anymore.
