Your underrated 11

Kovacic - Current player, phonemonal at beating the press, fantastic on the ball and a great tackler. had the best dribble % in the league a couple years ago.
A shame he's rarely fit.

Wise - Severely underrated and seen as a hatchet man, fantastic left and right foot, an eye for goal, good in the tackle, great engine and a leader, captained chelsea to 4/5 trophies.

hazard - top 5 pl players ever for me but not considered so. Not seen a player dictate attacks and tempo like him in the league and carried some of the poorer chelsea teams to league titles.
One of the best solo performances ive seen is when he played as a false 9 up top alone against city in the league cup final. rarely spoke about.

Schrulle - Not sure why we got rid tbh, was very good in his short time with us.

Crespo - Even seen him included in a flop list.
Won a league title with us and scored 1 in 2. Not bad going for someone who had lots of personal issues during the time.

Demba Ba - Given limited runs, but always scored important goals and linked the play well. Horribly under utilised.

John O'Shea- labelled as jack of all trades but he was very good in set roles. Played regularly at RB in our title winning and CL final reaching side in 08/09 and was excellent.

Chris Smalling- not world class by any means but a better defender than Maguire and Lindelof who played while he was shifted out.

Varane- may sound strange but I don't he's getting the credit he deserves at United. The most important player at the club right now imo. Also, the Guardian put him as the 85th best player in the world on a list where he is behind far inferior CB's. I can't think of a CB I would swap him for right now when fit.

Carrick- he was never fully appreciated imo.

Ole- sort of has this rep as a super sub poacher but I've watched old games recently and he was actually a very good footballer. Would walk into our current side and improve us massively imo.

Not going to make an XI btw, just a few that I believe are very underrated.

Szczesny

Van bronkhorst
Kos - was the best CB in the league at one point
Djorou - what an athlete
Lauren - probably the 2nd best RB in the world at one point behind the legendary Cafu

Petit - best CM in the world at one point
Coq - what a competitor

Ozil - best playmaker in the world for years, but always criticised

Wiltord - terrific player. Scored clutch goals.

Bentdner - classic #9. Scored boat loads for Denmark and single handedly fired our title challenge in 2009-10

Pepe - sweetest left peg in the PL. For a ‘flop’ check out the beauties this guy bagged. Our flops are better than most teams’ top talents

For United:

VDS - difficult position as our keepers in my lifetime have either been really crap or really good. Put him in as most consider Schmeichel to be better but I disagree.

Rafael - I think a lot of non United fans consider him a flop but he had a really good spell towards the end of Fergie's reign and was an important player in that last title win. Form fell off a cliff after Fergie left though.

Brown - very, very good defender who's career was ruined by injuries. Still a key, often forgotten part of that 08 team (albeit at RB mainly)

Blind - thought he was really good next to Smalling for a season at CB under LVG.

Shaw - controversial one, but I think he's a brilliant player who still doesn't really get the credit he deserves.

Nani - wonderful player at his peak. That peak was short-lived though.

Veron - Didn't live up to the price tag but wasn't as bad as a lot of people seem to think he was.

Carrick - Wasn't underrated by the end, but it took people a few years to realise how good he was.

Young - Got a hell of a lot of stick when he was playing for us but I never thought he was that bad, just not spectacular. Always had the right attitude too.

Saha - One of the most complete CFs I've seen at the club when he wasn't injured.

Ole - Another difficult one, but as the poster above said he was a very good footballer and was a lot more than the super sub rep. he has.

I'd agree with 9 of those. Personally think Blind and especially Nani were overrated if anything.

Brown, Rafael and Shaw are really good shouts for United.

I’d swap Smalling for Blind. Smalling was a much better player for us than Blind was. Blind was overrated by United fans, he didn’t really do much aside from that short lived partnership where Smalling was the superior player.

We could do with Ole on the right wing now!

Although, to be fair, I think Antony has done OK for his first season in the PL.

He's actually in the underrated category in some ways.

For United:

Paul Parker - important part of the first two titles under SAF

Gary Pallister - rarely mentioned when discussing United's best ever CBs but was at United for longer than Stam and as long as Vidic.

Lee Sharpe - a good old fashioned left winger. He was pretty unlucky Giggs was around at the same time. SAF still managed to find games for his though. The Villa 2-1 in 1993 a memorable night for him.

And in the league Team of season about 6 or 7 times. And won more caps than the more talked about Bruce.

We look better when he's on the pitch IMO. He's perhaps playing it a bit safe at present but once we really get flying I think he'll show more. We've seen flashes and I thought he was good v Forest. Should have scored but very rarely do I notice him losing the ball.

Antony needs a proper right back behind him imo.

This. Bit of a jack of all trades master of none type player. Decent technically but not good enough physically to be a top player. I'm surprised he went to Bayern.

I think he'd do better with Dalot there but they've both been out injured these last few months at different times so not had chance to build anything up. You see when Shaw is playing he understands Rashford.

The people who considered him a successor to Carrick were talking bollox, but I think he did a pretty good job at CB. I remember people talking about him as a weak link at the time which I disagreed with.

Pallister is a better shout in hindsight though.
