Sorry Fridgeboy, winning trophies beats the CL moments. Not sure why your so surprised. Look at all the old posters moments on here as proof. All trophy wins. Ask any lower league fan lucky to see their club win a play off trophy. Any money that’s their greatest moment. The Moura moment was unreal. Doesn’t beat that feeling seeing us lift a trophy beating Chelsea no chance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope, not for me. I'm not saying they're not good. Of course they are but they're not the ONLY that thing creates that euphoric feeling. To think that the 1999 cup final beats the semi final win over Ajax, I think is just mental but each their own I guess.
You have to remember that 99% of football teams don't win any trophies. Clubs that haven't won a thing still have great stories, great moments and a similar feeling of elation.
You also have to caveat the fact that a lot of the older posters are voting for the 60s because, yes, Spurs were great, but they were also younger, with hopes and dreams so it's always going to draw you back.
I think the point is that it shouldn't be exclusively about trophies. They weren't just moments by the way. They were Spurs qualifying for the final of the greatest cup competition in club football history. It was monumental. David and Goliath stuff. Beating a hapless Leicester side 1-0 at Wembley doesn't feel the same. Sorry, it just doesn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You make out like that’s a bad thing. Beating that “hapless” Leicester saw us lift a trophy. Beating Chelsea in that incredible game in the league cup final saw us lift a trophy over one of fierce rivals. Lucas Moura as fantastic as it was, was just a moment that lead to one of the biggest ever disappointments as a Spurs fan. That’s all I’m ever reminded of, losing that final. Yes an incredible moment but give me a trophy over a moment any day of the week. We think differently with Spurs clearly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
LikeI said, it's a personal thing. Whilst trophies are great, they're not the only enjoyable part of football, otherwise every stadium would be empty.
To my mind winning a League Cup against a side, who, at the time, were a mid-table to lower end side vs completing incredible comebacks against the best teams in the world to very nearly win the greatest club competition on world football, represents no contest. I can watch those City and Ajax games and separate the final defeat from them. On their own, they were just magical. They WERE what we all loved the game for when we were kids. I'd love us to win more trophies but we shouldn't forget moments like that just because ultimately we fell short in the end.

1960/1961.
The FA Cup Winners: 1900/1901, 1920/1921,
At my age I have see Spurs win 10 trophies and clearly cheated out one.
We lost the 1962 European Cup Semi Final to a Eusebio led Benfica. However the refereeing both legs was diabolical and especially the second leg at WHL. We had 3 goals ruled out for offside, one when there was two defenders on the goal line and another against Greaves despite him beating several players before slotting home. To this day I still think at least two of the officials had been got at🤔🤬

All the best moments are usually when Spurs win a trophy. But I can see where some fans come from, Don, Spurs haven`t won much for a while, so fans will have individual moments in matches to look back on. I certainly have hundreds from my 60 years, but obviously seen Spurs win plenty to that will always come first.
I get why a lot put the semi final with Ajax. I myself loved that match, but ultiminately Spurs won nothing. If you are going to win a semi final, then you have to follow it up by winning the final. That`s why my first 25 seasons of supporting Spurs were so good. I think Spurs won like 11 semi finals and then won the 11 finals. Six FA Cups, three European trophies, two League Cups. They did have the odd blip in L/C semis, and a couple of final defeats. But in general Spurs won semi finals, they then won the final.

Genius you have in fact seen more
6 FA Cups
3 European Trophies
4 League Cups
That`s 13.
And yes Spurs were down up like a kipper in the two legs of the Benfica European Cup semi final by the ridiculous refereeing decisions that rules out three goals. VAR would have seen Spurs win that tie, and probably have been the first British Club to win the European Cup.

I found Liverpool's trophy lift in 2019 absolutely gut-wrenching. it was made worse by the fact that I had a load of mates for that final. Two of them support Liverpool, which made it so much worse. Some weren't Spurs fans either so their indifference annoyed me, too. I just got arrrrseholed and pretended the whole thing didn't happen.

Oh well, it worked out in the end with us eventually getting Poch but it does make you wonder how Redknapp could have done going forward after that. Probably not much better given the limitations in the squad depth Levy left us with.

The West Ham all time top scorer list is hilarious - Marlon Harewood is 5th and Carlton Cole 3rd. Not a single player over 100 goals. Midfielder Noble is 4th
=========
Geoff Hurst has a lot more than 100. And he isn't even top.
Think you are looking at PL only.

3. Ajax game
4. Can't recall the year off hand but we equalised last knockings against united ( dempsey)
5. First game at the new lane.

I forgot about the Wigan game. That was a good one.
We actually had some pretty good moments under Redknapp didn't we?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs were by far the most entertaining team in the league under Redknapp - we would have days where we were terrible but also where we were sublime.
Always fancied us to score, decent in the cups, first CL qualification.

I always watch the "trophy lift" no matter which team wins it. It is, for me, what it is all about. Even if it is a rival winning, or Arsenal have lost.

I didn't have too much of a problem with the England thing. He might have made it more clear his focus was on Spurs but we all knew he was interested in the job anyway. The form was not great either at the time which didn't help matters and really we should have finished 3rd not 4th, although that is as much on the head of Levy for bolstering a squad that could have even competed for a title, with injury prone pensioners Saha and Nelson.
Redknapp would have been a much better choice for England than Hodgson so it makes him simply getting sacked all the more disappointing.

Yeah, I didn't understand it. As soon as I found out Hodgson got the England job, I couldn't believe it. We'd totally lucked out. Then he was sacked a short time after. It didn't make any sense.
The most gut wrenching part is that Redknapp himself admitted that he'd met up with Hazard with a view to signing him, Levy baulked at the £30m cost and we ended up with Saha and Nelson. We were close apparently. He'd pretty much said yes.

The most gut wrenching part is that Redknapp himself admitted that he'd met up with Hazard with a view to signing him, Levy baulked at the £30m cost and we ended up with Saha and Nelson. We were close apparently. He'd pretty much said yes.

I thought it was summer we were supposed to get Hazard and it was dependant on if we got top CL as well?
Oh well, it worked out in the end with us eventually getting Poch but it does make you wonder how Redknapp could have done going forward after that. Probably not much better given the limitations in the squad depth Levy left us with.

The West Ham all time top scorer list is hilarious - Marlon Harewood is 5th and Carlton Cole 3rd. Not a single player over 100 goals. Midfielder Noble is 4th

Geoff Hurst has a lot more than 100. And he isn't even top.
Think you are looking at PL only.

That may be true but he played 500 times for West Ham, and scored many more than 91.
