Lack of serious pace on the counter was a weird decision considering how much it has hurt us this season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. But starting Traore would have more than likely hurt someone sitting near the corner flag.
Traore was also pretty anonymous though.
The way we played in the second half was exactly what you were calling for, defending deep and hoping for a break with Traore. It resulted in exactly what I said it would. An easy win for Liverpool.
Looks like Spanner made an unfortunate slip there and ended up getting skinned!!
All the attacking players, including subs that came on, were totally anonymous last night. The midfield wasn't much better, even Neves had a poor game. Not many players to praise though I guess Dawson and Kilman did OK.
Overall a poor performance in the context of recent weeks. Going on Saturday so looking for a point at least against a Spurs side that can blow hot and cold.
Thought Dawson was superb for the first hour.
It certainly wasn't an easy win for Liverpool. I reckon they were mightily relieved to get two late goals. Last night they had a similar level of possession and less shots than they had at Molineux when we beat them 3-0. At Molineux we made a bright start and scored two. Last night we made a bright start and didn't score which sadly is more often the case. As I suspected when I saw the line up Jimenez became very isolated and the complete ineffectiveness of Sarabia and Nunes amplified that. We did get more possession in the second half than the first but again rarely looked like scoring.
Yeah, bet they were really worried by us.
Probably the easiest game Konate and Van Dijk have had all season.

I see via whoscored.com that Jimenez touched the ball more than any other forward we had on the pitch today.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
What's your point cinci, considering he was the only 'forward' we had on the pitch. he made several 'touches' in our half defending. He was completely useless and I saw the game.
Try watching more games yourself instead of picking up comments from other outlets.
Semedo slipped and wasn't skinned as Mt Molineux has suggested and if Traore had done his defensive duties more, it could have been different. The same goes for Sa, who could have pushed his good save round the post instead of giving it to Jota.
The set up dictated the way we played and I for one agreed with it and still do. We kept Liverpool at bay and both our central defenders did well.
Not surprising that Liverpool's CB"s had an easy game considering who was up front for us and if we survive the drop this season, then our priority must be to offload some of our forwards and get new ones in.
Hope I'm wrong , but I really don't see the Austrian Peter Crouch as the answer to our problems either.
No idea why we couldn't have gone for a Danny Ings, Chris Wood, type. Proven Prem goal scorers.
We did go for Danny Ings. He didn't want to come here.

Yeah, I realise that. I meant that type of player.
No idea who identified "one goal in 19 games" Chunha from Athlethico as the answer to our problems?
If we tried to sign Ings, then we did try to sign that type of player surely?
I am usually included to ignore Weekend but he can be humorous

Indeed. But he is not the only player of that type?
There's some stiff competition on here but I reckon Tam is retaining his contrarian of the year title again this year
