Element of truth in both angles Tbf. We’ve definitely improved but have ridden our luck at times, there is shades of ole’s winning run..
I can actually see where they are coming from. We are a better side now as we have betters players at the back and in midfield but a lot of our performances do resemble Ole’s United of 2 seasons ago.
I'm staggered, it doesn't seem like that at all to me.
Sorry Liverpool fans, carry on.

In what would you say we drastically different to 2 years ago 52? Not being argumentative but more interested in your opinion on it.
I see similar strengths and flaws in both teams.
Subs for a start, Eric’s substitutions more often than not change the game for the better

I could be wrong here but I seem to recall us having the most sub goals in 20/21 also.
Most of it is confidence coupled with a structure in place. Most of your players are the same...dont rate them that much tbh and neither did its fans a year ago.
Shaw
Dalot
Even rashford
Slabby
De gea
Fred
Mcfella
Martial
Sanchez
Fernandes
Were all be slated by Manu fans...the only one out of that list I really rated is rashford...even when he lacked confidence.
The centre of defence has stiffened considerably, opponents used to walk through us. Our fullbacks push up more. Whilst far from perfect our play out from the back is slicker. We work harder. We press more, cheers Weggy.
ETH has improved Rashy, Fred, AWB, at least. Got Shaw back to top form.

Sure, usually sensible comments.
Agger too.
Anyway it seems you maybe right and me wrong. But we certainly seem better to me.
One of our flaws that is similar to us under Ole is ball retention.
I’m a bit of a stats nerd but I was looking at the list of the top 50 players with the most accurate passes per game this season.
The list is naturally made up entirely of defenders and deep lying midfielders and unsurprisingly is dominated by City and Arsenal.
What is surprising is that while we are not that far behind them in the league, we have only 3 players on that list and they are quite a way down.
Martinez and Shaw are 29th and 30th respectively and Eriksen our only midfielder on that list at 47th.
What ETH has to improve next is ball retention imo. We are still poor whenever we are pressured in possession.

I agree with some of those points but I’d argue the likes of AWB, Fred, Shaw have gotten back to similar form to the what they had under Ole. Rashford has improved statistically no doubt.
I am probably in the same boat. I think ETH is doing what ole did with just playing counter attacking footy. When ole tried to evolve it he came unstuck. Let's see what eth does next season as hr has to be going for the league.

I'm not sure I want Cities style of play, results yes, but in a different way. We beat them and Arsenal at home, I dare say their stats were better, but we got the points
In this league draws are damaging after the standards that city have set. So u have to go for wins every game. Teams will start playing deep against yoy and then the cou ter attacks it space to run at the back for rashford will dissappear.

Why do we need to evolve, we're doing great, win the first two games of the season and we're up there.
And better to watch
Frankly I'm amazed. We seem considerably better to me. Ah well.
I’d suggest that the biggest difference is probably the players belief in the managers they were playing for. Can anyone honestly say that the United players as a group had much faith in what Ole was doing? For now at least, many of the same players have bought into what ETH is trying to achieve.
The mentality, if nothing else, seems completely different.

Whay I mean is just playing counter attacking footy won't win you the league. You won a cup, become competitive again and closed the gap to city. Next part is to evolvd the style a bit more to be less reliant om just counter attacks.
You are a much better side now. Last season you were 1 of the easiest teams in the entire league to play through. I mustve watched you 7 or 8 times last season being played off the park by teams of varying levels.
You have a manager now that actually knows how to set up a team and the players appear to be buying into it.
Last season I fancied us to wipe the floor with you at old trafford before a ball was kicked as we were everything you had stuggled with up to that point. Weirdly it almost seems roles reveresed today. You guys are everything we have reallt struggled with all season with real pace on the break.
Im not confident at all today. I think yous will expose us at the back. 1-3 for me.
No Maguire and no Ronaldo. Those alone are massive imo.
