It's such a short term improvement it's hard to gauge properly. When u have so much ground to make up its inevitable fans will get excited when they see a drastic upturn in the teams fortunes.
Man u are far better than last season. They were horrendous last year. They are building good foundations and a benefit few talk about I'd they actually have plenty of dead wood to generate funds for more signings.
Statistic wise, without going too Hafi, their goal difference is miles behind where it needs to be to compete for the PL imo, but they are far more solid.
God form has changes Rashers but he still isn't a natural striker us bank on 20 a tear from. Kane will be a huge upgrade up top for united. Keep Casimero fit and Varane and adding a few quality signings united will compete I feel.
Issue I see is Casemiro and a few others do seem short term fixes. They will be costly to replace in the not too distant future. Kane I feel although also in that bracket, would make a huge difference.
Gaining ground to top 4 is a world away from winning the PL. World cup and Arsenal having no CL etc has given them a huge edge, after big investment, so I don't think this year is a 'usual' Pl season. Points tallies show City have dropped of a little. I expect them to be back to their old ways next season being ruthless again.
Tldr United are far better but Ole did also make United rip up trews for a while, although I think TH is way better myself. If Casemiro and Varane/Martinez got a bad injury could uniteds form suffer massively? I think so. Most teams have that issue though bar city. Maybe Chelsea also next season.
it's patently obvious utd are improved.
you got rid of Ronaldo.
on its own that's done the job.
add in fitness and discipline and of course sides improve. OGS was a pushover and to friendly by half to players.

Hopefully it’s kidology like Rashford & the cup final
The spine of our team is significantly stronger than it has been for a decade.
We haven't had a CB pairing as good as the current two since Rio n Vidic. We haven't had a midfielder as good as Casemiro since Scholesy and Keano.
The Striker position is the next one to enhance which we do in the summer. I think if we sign Kane we will be some team next season and it will take a very very good team to stop us.

One of our flaws that is similar to us under Ole is ball retention.
I’m a bit of a stats nerd but I was looking at the list of the top 50 players with the most accurate passes per game this season.
The list is naturally made up entirely of defenders and deep lying midfielders and unsurprisingly is dominated by City and Arsenal.
What is surprising is that while we are not that far behind them in the league, we have only 3 players on that list and they are quite a way down.
Martinez and Shaw are 29th and 30th respectively and Eriksen our only midfielder on that list at 47th.
What ETH has to improve next is ball retention imo. We are still poor whenever we are pressured in possession.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure I want Cities style of play, results yes, but in a different way. We beat them and Arsenal at home, I dare say their stats were better, but we got the points
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes but that’s not sustainable long term. We got the rub of the green on both of those days.
