I don’t need to justify my opinion to someone who isn’t prepared to share his own, and who has only joined the thread to literally tell everyone that their opinion is uninformed and pointless.

If you were actually debating the subject then we could give reasons for our views. I don’t need to write a full breakdown of how I’ve reached my opinion in order to qualify myself to talk about the subject.

And frankly, if all you’re here to do is dismiss everyone’s opinion then you’re better off not joining a forum.

Lastly, it’s actually within debate where we learn. Has it occurred to you that someone of us KNOW that we don’t know it all, and so discussing it helps us consider things we hadn’t previously?

Maybe when you’re not so narrow minded and immature, you may actually join in a debate and enjoy it… even if you don’t know the subject inside out.

Until then, forums are not for you.

Chill Winston.

I'm sure TopForm can give us a properly researched analysis of everyone and their opinions to back up his argument.

I maybe in a minority here but I do agree that the UK has to do something with the amount of immigrants arriving here illegally and looking to claim asylum.

This country is completely up the creek with out having to worry about a few extra hundred every few days needing housing.

Let’s concentrate on looking after our own first for a change, let’s help the older generation who helped this country keeps its freedom by sorting there gas and electric bills so they don’t freeze first , we also need to stop sending billions to the Ukraine and helping fund a war that’s nothing to do with us.

There should always be a santuary here for those fleeing persecution or war but Albanians don't fit into either category and that's who we should be targetting.

Cmon lets have a why and some reasoning behind these opinions. A thorough analysis of what the problem involves from a moral, practical and economic perspective and what the potential solutions and outcomes are.

I want to see the net cost and benefit to the Country as whole, how this plan affects it, what other plans there could be etc.

It's all to easy to post up an opinion with no substance. Not sure what anyone on here or Lineker has to offer if they're just saying things like yeah I agree, yeah I don't agree, 1930, we need to help people, etc.

Good starting point. There are so many variables. Also the bigger picture has to be recognised of UK born British citizens of immigrants further growing the economy as they too join the work force.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks.

Yes that's one element, fiscal impact is debatable and likely to be negligible either way.

Cultural impact is a large facet and public opinion sways towards poor handling of the issues, though it's relatively divided.

If the majority of the Country support the Government in a democratic society on this issue how does this compare to 1930s Germany?

As pointed out (before Winston came in with his usual provocation) there are practical and moral issues to consider.

I don't see people formulating an opinion on how nuclei should be merged in Nuclear fusion but take an issue just as complicated as this and people are more than happy to give their opinions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What are the practical and moral issues you’re thinking of?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lots of practical issues, but I'll give you a direct example - perception by the indigenous population. The 2016 vote was a prime example of a reaction borne of public perception and Europe has been shifting to the right for some time now. Italy being a prime example.

The moral issues are equally as complicated, e.g, whether people should be putting themselves in harms way to rescue people in boats.

The money for Ukraine is different.

To your first point, are they mutually exclusive? My concern is we’re being sold a lie that it’s immigrants who are preventing us from properly funding the vulnerable in our society.

It’s just not true, is it?

If there were safe and legal routes to claim asylum, with effective processing, we wouldn’t be having the issues. But the Tories don’t want that because then they’d not be able to dog whistle to the radical right in the country.

Said without a hint of irony.

One other point, and then I’ll leave you to it, because you add nothing.

You need to realise that some of us have opinions that are fluid. We see both sides even though we fall down more on one side than another.

There’s nothing flawed about having a view based on what you know, but also knowing that view is not qualified. There’s nothing wrong with seeking out information and views to learn from.

Now, off you trot to avoid giving any opinion and tell everyone else why they’re not entitled to theirs. Enjoy.
