You don't have to be an economics guru to understand that getting rid of the fecking cuuuunnnntards running the country right now would easily pay for everything you're concerned about, Edward. They've facked the country in the arris till it's bleeding now they're pointing the finger at asylum seekers.

Cmon lets have a why and some reasoning behind these opinions. A thorough analysis of what the problem involves from a moral, practical and economic perspective and what the potential solutions and outcomes are.
I want to see the net cost and benefit to the Country as whole, how this plan affects it, what other plans there could be etc.
It's all to easy to post up an opinion with no substance. Not sure what anyone on here or Lineker has to offer if they're just saying things like yeah I agree, yeah I don't agree, 1930, we need to help people, etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/briefings/the-fiscal-impact-of-immigration-in-the-uk/

https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/revealed-immigrants-put-34-more-into-public-finances-than-they-take-out/
Good starting point. There are so many variables. Also the bigger picture has to be recognised of UK born British citizens of immigrants further growing the economy as they too join the work force.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks.
Yes that's one element, fiscal impact is debatable and likely to be negligible either way.
Cultural impact is a large facet and public opinion sways towards poor handling of the issues, though it's relatively divided.
If the majority of the Country support the Government in a democratic society on this issue how does this compare to 1930s Germany?
As pointed out (before Winston came in with his usual provocation) there are practical and moral issues to consider.
I don't see people formulating an opinion on how nuclei should be merged in Nuclear fusion but take an issue just as complicated as this and people are more than happy to give their opinions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What are the practical and moral issues you’re thinking of?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lots of practical issues, but I'll give you a direct example - perception by the indigenous population. The 2016 vote was a prime example of a reaction borne of public perception and Europe has been shifting to the right for some time now. Italy being a prime example.
The moral issues are equally as complicated, e.g, whether people should be putting themselves in harms way to rescue people in boats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On your first point the 2016 vote and perceptions. I don’t think many gave considerations to NI. Who are within the jurisdiction of the British government currently. None had the foresight to recognise the problems that would arise for the island of Ireland as a whole have two different trading arrangements. It was imo a referendum vote that was made in good faith, as there was tonnes of misinformation or rather manipulation of information to suit given agendas.
On your second point I don’t think anyone is being asked to put themselves in danger to show to show empathy and compassion to those trying the flee hardship and plight.
I may not agree with Winston in many aspects of this discussion. But it does sound like you’ll have splinters in your ars* As your speaking through both sides of your mouth - at the same time

I am firmly in favour of Lineker having his right to say what he wants, even though I think he’s full of sh11t, it’s Free Speech - I doubt the “woke” Left would be happy allowing the opposing view person keep their position though, it’s pretty clear who the authoritarian fascists are…

Meanwhile Lineker on his 1.3million salary, paid for by a license that nobody has a choice in paying, is happily galvanising right wing opinion with his emotive knee jerk comments. Worked so well over the last decade this approach hasn't it
