Without me checking, I’d say a lot of our squad (especially the newer signings) are on fairly long contracts. So if the board (new owners?) can stomach the costs for a year, why not force them all to stay and get us back up?
Should be a top 6 team at least in the Championship. So why sell them for a song…? We’d get a fraction of what we’ve paid

Last week Everton were routed to the bottom 3 - they got one win and are suddenly out of it. All it takes is one win and you are out of the bottom 3 it seems.
By the way i caught some of the Everton game vs Brentford and they were absolutely dire. Brentford were all over them just couldnt score.
It was reported last year that radz was happy to include relegation release clauses for players (not all clubs do) Raphinha was the one made public but there are believed to be others… given the number of signings we made over the last year it’s fair to expect that there may be release clauses aplenty. Flip side we also put Salary reduction clauses in our contracts. Depends how generous those respective clauses are as to how many rats would jump ship - assuming teams are falling over themselves to sign our better players.

I doubt we would keep Adams and Gnonto in the Champ.
I think our team lacks some older heads with a bit of experience. Like we had Pablo, Dallas etc. Feel like something is missing - some good players but lack a bit of leadership you get from older players. Ayling offers it t oan extent but I think we need someone in the midfield who can drive the team on. A leader. Like a Pablo, Strachan etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head, Outwood – since the departure of Pablo and Kalvin, our only two true leaders are those other old hands - Dallas and Cooper, both crocked. I still curse Dallas for the mindless foul he committed at the end of last season - so out of character for him but one that I feel has had far-reaching consequences. If we do go down, I’m not sure the squad we’ve got will be either hardy or committed enough to bring us up from the Championship, but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

I'm still hoping for that 3 game win streak. With so many teams in the running every win can move us up a few positions.
Where's the MOT spirit?
We are coming through a very difficult and unstable period and we are in a battle to stay up with eight other clubs.
It is too soon to speculate about where we will be in 12 games time, but what we can say is that Gracia is bringing some stability to the ship. That is to say, the last three league results have been about right in regard to how we played.
Wolves away is as far ahead as I can predict.
They are not as good as Brighton, so I would expect us to concede fewer goals.
Wolves have scored 20 goals in 27 games, so they are not going to run riot against us.
On the plus side, we will have Rodrigo back. If we start with the team that finished against Brighton, we will create chances. We had 12 shots against them, with 4 on target. Although we are away from home, we can get at them and I think a performance like the one at Fulham in the Cup will get us a result. This time around, we have finishers on the pitch. I can not see Rod or Sini missing some of those chances.
Wolves, in their last home game against Spurs, created 8 chances in total, and got 4 on target. Spurs had 21 chances, and 7 on target. Wolves got the only goal of that game. Spurs looked a lot like us at Fulham.
The question for me is this. Given the likelihood of Wolves scoring a goal, can we go one better? We did, at Elland Road, and our current crop of players is better than the team we put out at the start of the season.
Wolves will want to avenge last season's result, but Lopetegui looks to be running out of magic dust with 3 defeats in the last 5.
On the balance of the evidence, this is one where we look capable of winning, but we should at least come out with a point.

re Wolves, we've won league game away from home all season.
Wolves lose less than half their home league games and gave us a lesson last season until they went a man down.
I think an away point is realistic expectation here but its not enough, so surely we have to go for all three, will that leave us too exposed at the back?

In such a tight situation every point is useful.
And yes it's conceivable we could go bottom tonight. In the big scheme of things, it changes nothing.
Jonty, I take your point about winning just once away from home. However, Wolves have lost more home games than they have won, quite a change from their record under Nuno. A lot will come down to players delivering on their potential. We get glimpses of how good they can be. We saw Harrison and Bamford rolling back the years for a couple of moments against Brighton. Rodrigo is back and Sini may have a say too.
As I said, Wolves manage less than a goal a game and we scored two against a better team than them at Elland Road. These are the facts as we know them. So why shouldn't we take three points on Saturday?
However perilous our current position, for me the next 2 games aren't the key to our survival. Fingers crossed we get something from the Wolves game, Arsenal would be amazing - even a draw.
It's the following 3 games against Palace, Forest and Liverpool at home where i believe our destiny will become clearer.

By then we could actually be adrift at bottom of table, it's always the next few games that count etc.,
But, you have a great point in that I'm not expecting more than a point from Wolves and Arsenal but this nest three matches if we cant buck the treats and get a couple of wins then its hard to see us bucking trend in the harder matches to come.
Being adrift is my fear too .... that in itself can create additional pressure on the team which might inhibit those vital home games.
Everything crossed we can pull of a great win this weekend ....
Very unlikely we'll be adrift.
Probably a dead cert we'll lose to Arsenal.
Hope is, they don't win by more than 4 or 5 which
would kill our GD. And our slim advantage over rivals.
The thing about comparing what we will do to what we've done is that we don't have what caused our problems in the first place. Namely Jessie Marcsh.
A Southampton win tonight puts us bottom but they will have played a game more. The way we are just now, games in hand are not such an advantage.
It is just so sad that we are in this position again having learned nothing from last season. We sold our 2 best players for good money but did not replace them with anything close to equivalent quality. If we go down it will be entirely our own doing. Any moaning about refereeing decisions or injuries is just making excuses for poor decision making at the top.

Hear hear! Moaning about poor refs seems to be the first port of call for many but decisions even themselves out over a seasons so we've only ourselves to blame for our predicament. Chin up, though – a good result at the weekend could see us on the up.

Fingers crossed "Honest Ivan" is on his game tonight.
But even if we go bottom, no need for further depression 🤣🤣

Hear hear! Moaning about poor refs seems to be the first port of call for many but decisions even themselves out over a seasons so we've only ourselves to blame for our predicament. Chin up, though – a good result at the weekend could see us on the up.
