Koscielny is a good shout. If Wenger had given him any sort of midfield protection he'd be rated a lot higher.

Moussa Dembele was superb

Always thought Abou Diaby had everything to be a great player, shame about the injuries

Tony Yeboah for Leeds. Thunderbolt of a shot.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen were an excellent CB pairing for club and country for donkey's and maybe get overlooked because they never won anything

Kevin Phillips for Sunderland

Lucas Radebe, hardly ever gets mentioned when discussing best CB’s of PL era, he was certainly up there

Maybe not Ferdinand who I'd regard as the best centre half we've had in the Prem era

Ledley was better than Ferdinand IMO

Ahh Kevin Pillips, always scored against us, and Kevin Davies from Bolton

Jermaine defoe very underrated. His all round play even at sunderland was great.

Couple of suggestions:

Robert Pires - arguably the best player in the league for 1-2 years. Rarely gets heralded as such imo.

Robbie Fowler - often referred to as a natural finisher but I don't think many acknowledge what a fantastic footballer he was.

Think his time with us is a bit skewed. No doubting what a player he was but with liverpool he had a good debut season and an excellant last season. The seasons in between he was very average which is why the club thought about replacing him with barry.

Needless to say his last season form with us continued right through the rest of his career.

Okocha. Kids nowadays would go bananas seeing the things he did to players and he'd be all over Tik Tok. Power, pace and a real crowd pleaser.

And he had to deal with Big Sam 😂

Mark viduka was a player who never seemed to get many plaudits but thought he was excellent

Juninho for boro in his first spell too was class

Jari litmanen and VDV at sours were two players I always wanted to get more minutes but when they played they were always at least 8/10. Not greats in the sense of PL greats but great in that when they played they were unreal to watch.

VDV was miles better than the player I thought we were getting ….still remember him megging wilshire twice in 20 seconds ….he was very classy

Sami hypia rarely gets a mention these days but he was a monster at the back for Liverpool

Gotta be Modric, spent 4 seasons in the premier league and I don't really think anyone knew how good he was.

Not by our fans but Ledley King by media. There was always a major love in for Terry and Ferdinand but for me King was a better player than Terry. Maybe not Ferdinand who I'd regard as the best centre half we've had in the Prem era (from England).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think King was overrated by Spurs fans myself, due to injuries. If he wasn't always injured he would have been this or that etc. But he was always injured, we can only go on what occurred not what may or may not have been.

I think Alonso was at Liverpool three seasons. He did well in his first season, he was below par second season and by the end of the second season he wanted to leave after a disagreement with the manager. He then had an excellent third season before being sold to Madrid. He had just about hit his peak by then so we never got to see the best of him consistently in the PL.

That was a fun team to watch. Big sam's Bolton had some other good players too Gary Speed, Campo, Pedersen and the two Kevin's.

The thinking wasn't actually to replace him with Barry but Barry was going to play in the same team on the left. Although when Alonso left he likely would have replaced him anyhow.
