Notts Forest v Wolves

Worrying that Ait Nouri is still out of favour after storming off when left out against Leeds? Surely our best attacking left back.

Seems clear to me that if we are ever going to get the wins we need to achieve safety, we will have to commit more players forward. We certainly aren’t offering much to the Premier League brand by way of entertainment currently.

We are a really hard watch and have been for a season and a half.

longer than that. Unpopular opinion but we were depressingly negative under Nuno a lot as well. Thankfully very well drilled back then.

Same issues though, zero penetration through the middle and watching MGW work that area so well today was irritating

Might explain the VAR conspiracy against us? We are a certainty for last on Match of the Day again.

what angle do we think Wolfie is gonna take tonight in his 'told you so' post?

It will be about putting the ball in the 'ole onion bag'. Something about him being the only person to notice we need a striker.

MGW is in the right place for his career. If he were here, he'd be forced to play wide or be on the bench behind Moutinho and be nowhere near as effective.

On today's evidence, both teams look like they could be relegated. If Forest go down, I'm pretty sure he will be able to get a move away now.

Once again Jimenez offered absolutely nothing today. Just as I said he will never be the same player and needs to be moved on. (Sorry DJ)

We really missed Jonny who I believe would have stopped the attack for Forests goal and also offered more going forward. He would certainly have been my MoM if he’d played (sorry Cinci)

Seems to me that a few other posters are coming round to my idea that we need to score more goals? I’ve been banging that drum all season.

Also, pray tell, how are we more creative playing four at the back? How are we better off with a manager? Like I said all along, an orchestra plays without a conductor.

I forgot about the whole 'the manager doesn't make a difference' stuff. Wonder if he'll go back to that again.

The biggest concern for me at the moment is that JLo seems to get his team selection wrong at the start of every game. Wrong in obvious ways too. You see the starting line up and you're already thinking about what changes he could make at half time and hoping that it will still be 0-0 when the game gets to that point.

He bottled it today with his team selection. It was negative and never going to work. It's good that he makes changes, but it would be nice if needing to chase the game was an exception and not the rule.

The frustrating thing is, that we had a few games where he did set us up well and we pressed as a team. Not sure why he suddenly reverted to this.

I think it's simply a result of Lopetegui realising that the players aren't of sufficient quality to give performances capable of winning games in this league and as a result is tinkering to try and find something that isn't there.

Can't understand him taking off Adama today though or the Dawson for Bueno swap. Toti had a decent game by most accounts but surely if Bueno was fit he should have started.

If it isn’t there, he needs to try and coach it into them then. We have got nine games left to save our top flight status,

I can understand the Dawson swap. We were pressing and Dawson got caught out for lack of pace a few times with Forest's forwards. That was the only threat really, so he took Dawson off and played the two centre backs with more pace.

They probably didn't have confidence in Bueno playing more than 30 minutes after injury. Toti isn't good enough as a left back though.

Think you've got that spot on re Dawson, Toti and Bueno.

Also agree OldGold. why did he take Adama off?

Not sure I've seen a great deal from Sarabia yet.

Think Neto should have come on earlier.

Podence is so frustrating, falls over, gives the ball away, tries flicks and tricks that don't come off and, ... scores some great goals. Needs a bit of coaching me thinks.

The problem with changing the team every match is that no one knows who there are playing next too every game and hence no cohesion, no familiarity with each others play. A settled side gets used to each other and knows what they are about.
Continually changing players leave everyone, literally, all over the place.

I agree, need to establish partnerships in the team, poor yesterday, I thought team selection negative, Nunes disappointing, Costa improved us up top and of course Podence, had to squint through back of net to see other end of pitch was so low down and right behind goal

completely agree and have been banging that drum for a month or so. Chopping and changing a forward line is doing nobody any favours at all and then at half time changing it all again. Can't imagine the players are enjoying this ride right now.

I imagine he's picking the side based on what he sees in training as much as anything. Particularly this week with players coming back from internationals.

I think Chelsea are beatable. We need to start the match like we did against Liverpool. Positive and on the front foot.

I think Wolves are in a right pickle now. If you ask yourself are there three worse teams than Wolves in the PL at the moment then I think the answer is a resounding no. I dont think every team below us will wind their game in hand but they all seem to be battling for it a lot harder than we are.

posted on 3/4/23

There are definitely three worse teams in the division than us. That's doesn't mean we won't get relegated though. At this point in the season it becomes more about fighting for every point and grinding out results, than it does about ability. On that front, we have a bit of a worry.

Chelsea sacking Potter has come at the wrong time for us.

I think it depends if they have a new manager in place for the weekend. It might be that they leave a caretaker in charge for the rest of the season, in which case it might not change much.
