Potter needs a spell away from Chelsea.

Everton showing more spirit than us but fortunately have had a player sent off and they are a bit rubbish as well

Everton equalise and Spurs have a player sent off. Draw in the end.

thought Michael Keene came over well in interview, could string more than a few words together and modest and humble, unusual for a footballer

Was a bit odd how spurs allowed them back in to the game tonight, they looked like us against Leeds after they'd taken the lead. Cracking strike from Keane though.

So we're still in 13th after that round of games, may not be the case come Wednesday night however. Could be if Forest and Leeds draw and Bournemouth, Leicester and West Ham lose but that's a lot of ifs.

We've got to take control of our own destiny though, battle, scrap and fight for every single point on offer.

I think we need three wins to be safe. Its difficult at the moment to see where they are coming from, but it always feels like that when you're in poor form. Hopefully we can pick up a surprise win from somewhere to make everyone feel a bit better.

agreed a win needs to come very soon but we need to show more of a fighting spirit for that to happen, position in table could change for the worse very quickly

Just one win against the relegation rivals lately would have changed everything.

Still think we will be fine but it is going to be far tighter than it needed to be.

what angle do we think Wolfie is gonna take tonight in his 'told you so' post?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not a question of "I told you so". It was an article highlighting the reality we're in. You live in a fantasy world with your 'Jimenez 5 goals' remark.

We should have reverted to a back 3 a long time ago and I've been banging that drum. We're better off with two attacking wing backs (including Ait-Nouri, by the way) and a positive play maker in the middle. All our coaches have been defensive minded and as a result, we're not creating or scoring enough goals. Our money has been spent on the midfield for some weird reason and it's no wonder we are this precarious position, when you have the like of Jimenez, Costa and Hwang as our main strike force.

Which players from our main strike force did you think would be hitting "the ol' onion bag", when you confidently predicted a top half finish and maybe a push for Europe?

If we had two worthy wing backs then a back three maybe worth a look but we don't. Semedo in his whole time with us has two goals and four assists in 95 games. Ait-Nouri has double both those numbers in 20 less games. Three at the back requires a lot of production from the full backs and worked initially gor us because Doc was outstanding going forward.

As for signing midfielders, we were desperate to and midfield isn't what is killing us. Lemina has been good for the most part.

My personal opinion on the current situation is that Julen is chopping and changing far far too much, almost on an every 45 minute basis, at a time like this that is a problem as nobody is settled.

Jimenez a good example actually, I said if he played every game i reckon he could get five by seasons end. He is in, he is benched, he comes off the bench, he is dropped, he is in and on and on......where does he ever get any kind of form or chemistry going with others? He doesn't. Same can be said for others.

We're at the crucial point of the season where Loppy needs to stop tinkering, just select a formation and a starting eleven and give them a run.

There is no cohesion to our attacking shapes, we look like a group of players that aren't used to playing together..............which is exactly what they are!

2 home games coming against West London clubs, we really need 3 points minimum.

Last two comments are spot as as I eluded to earlier.
It’s simple basic coaching which Spanish and Portuguese coaches don’t seem to comprehend.
Four managers in a row and IMO not a clue about the way the Prem works.

I'm not against a settled formation (I favour a back 3), or a settled selection (I would give Jimenez, Neto and Traore a few games). However, can you imagine if Lopetegui selected his team for Saturday, we were 2 or 3 down at half time, he makes no changes until the 80th minute, we lose by 3 or 4, and then he selects the same starting 11 for the following match. There would be outcry.

Who would be a manager? (actually on his wages I'd take the job).

We also need to stop playing Moutinho as an advanced midfielder. As soon as you see him starting in a three with other defensive midfielders, you already know we are going to struggle.

I really think we need to play 2 central attacking players. Just play Cunha off Jimenez, with two of the wide players who can interchange with Cunha (Sarabia, Neto or Podence). Press from the front. Stick with it for a few games.

Bournemouth 0 Brighton 2 😀
Leicester 1 - Villa 2 😀
Leeds 2 Forest 1 🫥

Could've been worse.

Put in a 0-0 prediction in the KoP for Chelsea Liverpool, changed it to 1-1 in wolfie's comp

Chelsea are still a decent side. Probably going to hammer us this weekend and create a decent amount of chances. Hopefully they continue to miss them all.

Reading Toti's comments on the web site. Thought he had a decent game, but made me think about Ait Nouri. Is he injured, or is there some truth that he's out of favour with Lopetegui after a bout of petulance?

posted on 5/4/23

I can confirm that Ait Nouri stormed off before the Leeds match when the team was announced, I think there is trouble amongst some squad members.

I hope they can sort it out fast, we can't afford any unrest at this stage of the season.

For what it's worth, I always feel we are more likely to score when RAN is on the pitch. (sorry wolfie)

posted on 5/4/23

Isn't RAN fasting due to Ramadan? That coupled with playing for Algeria over the international break, probably lead to Lopetegui resting him at the weekend. He is a player that is prone to cramp late on in a game.

I thought Toti was ok at the weekend. I don't think he is good enough on the ball to play full back at this level though. He gave us very little going forward and arguably could have been better positioned for the goal.

Just watched the highlights back for the first time since Saturday. No idea how we weren't given a penalty again. Its amazing how everyone of those decisions always goes against us.

Also just seen that Andy Madley (the referee who Howard Webb has twice had to apologise to the club about in 2023) is on VAR for the Chelsea game.

Looks like wolfie has finally succeeded in hounding Spangles off the site, with his constant haranguing and swipes at his posts.

There's not many of us left now.

I’m still here, though feeling very apprehensive.
Don’t feel at all convinced we can get enough points.
Still clinging on in the hope we can.
