Good that he has seen the light.
Always looked the likely outcome, as the continuity, Sturgeon backed (without saying it) candidate. Surprised he only scraped it against an inexperienced Wee Free though, which is a riddy.
BTW I remember the (understandable) outrage when a few hundred thousand Tory members were effecting choosing the next PM … 50,000 choosing the next FM is absolutely fine though.
… Have to hand it to the guy though. Failing your way to the top job by age 37 is some achievement. Must have had some paper round as well.
It’s good news for me.

What if England becomes even worse? Very hard to imagine I know but if they go even further to shiiiit and we are still appended to them, do we just not have the conversation just cos they got Nicola removed?
Can't see how independence suddenly goes away. It was kind of a big deal before NS. No one is basing their preference for or against independence based on one person in charge

Independence will never go away for the SNP as it's their whole reason for being however the fact that only 70% of their members voted in this election suggests to me that they weren't too excited about the choices they had.
HY should stick Indyref2 on the back-burner for now and prove he is a worthy leader before going down that difficult road.

It's not about one failure being removed
It's about a career failure taking her place
Even the most partisan SNP voters aren't keen on him

It is a fvcking stitch up. Those that voted early should have had a re-vote after the membership scandal causing resignations and bearing in mind that Yousless is the preferred continuity candidate of that same 'branch' of the party.

Another thing, so the missing 32k members took it down to 72k yet only 50k bothered to vote? The kind of % 'turnout' in a regular election but these people are supposed to be some of the most politically engaged in the country and couldn't be ersed doing their electronic submission....?
Strong whiff about that.

Didn't say it was right or a remotely good outcome, hence my use of "(understandable) outrage". So why apparently NO dissention from ANYONE, as far as I can see (media included), that 50,000 SNP members have basically chosen the next FM? All I was saying.
BTW, think it says something about the current strength of the independence cause, and the leadership candidates, when they have just over 70,000 members and over 20,000 of them can't even be ersed voting for the new leader/FM.
Humza confirmed?
Didn’t even know he was catholic.
And the morphing of the SNP into nu-Labour is complete. Got a privately educated neo-liberal career politician at the top.
There's now as much chance of the SNP pushing for independence as there is Labour pushing for the end of the House of Lords. Wonder how long it'll be before we see an SNP lord...

England could come up to Scotland and schiete on everyone's living room carpet, set fire to the houses and tax the Scottish populace to death. All of this still won't matter to some - they will never agree to Scottish independence.

People will agree to vote for whatever suits their situation best. There's no shame in that, its part of why people fought so hard for a vote.
The reality is if Independence makes a better case for a prosperous future it would receive more support. The fact it hasn't is more damning on the politicians and those championing it than the Scottish people.
