you dont have to actually, they just make you feel that way.

that receipt belongs to you, its your property and the secuerity in the store have zero authoriy to force you to give over your personal belongings.

Id go back and tell them and the next they try tell them to do one they dont have the authority to request it

They do that here sometimes. It isn't consistent and yeah it is pretty pointless.

Always thought they did it when something is off and they are trying to nail a ln employee.

Sounds like a man with a guilty conscience and a packet of mince tucked down his briefs.

Places like Costco have had security checking receipts against trollies forever. They seem to do alright.

Oh no our chomp sales have fallen by 30 in the past month.

just tell them to feck aff .... you bought the things your walking out they belong to you, they have zero authority to order you to do anything.

they cant detain you, they cant touch you unless they have genuine suspect that you committed a crime and they must articulate why when asked what prompted the suspiscion.

If its on the basis of being store policy , tell them to do one they can tell you or ask you to do $hit.

Pretty sure if security have suspected that you have stolen something then they can ask to see a receipt? Otherwise everyone could just raid the store and walk out unchallenged?

This gives me the energy of those nonces that get their phone out and start shouting about the magna carta and demanding police badge numbers.

"I'm a free man of the land!"

Shut up you reprobate, put your phone in your pocket and get your reciept out before i kick your coont in - Me if ever i'm a police officer.

yes and like I said before they can detain you they need to articulate the exact suspicion or reason they suspect you have comitted a crime. Even then they cannot demand you hand over your property (which at this point is your receipt).

And like I said if its on the basis of store policy they cannot order you to do a single thing.

tbf there is stuff that can be learned from they guys. And I would encourage people being challenged by the police toi record all activities. the police whilst I do trust them have some right bad eggs in there that can ruin your live if the see fit.

the amount of police officers that dont know their companies procedures and the law is insane.

Costco is different seeing you have to have a membership to shop there.
Theres is a manual process with a guy just marking your receipt as its expected procedure for costco.

Crazy suggestion coming up here but why not just show them the receipt as you leave? I dunno, seems pretty low key and chill to just do that rather than get bent all out of shape and become one of those numbnuts needing to kick off about fack all every other day.

posted on 30/3/23

Also I could just stick some beers down my pants, go to self service and buy and onion and then scan the receipt at the door to let me out

What if they ask you for the receipt and you say no? The receipt is your property and you don't have to produce it to anyone on demand, right?

exactly yeah they have zero authority to demand your property from you.

A fully licenced security guard with their licence on show for the public to see can detain you in the store if they have reasonable suspicion that you have committed a crime in their store. They can stop you from leaving the store and thats it. they cannot demand you give them any details, they cannot search you, they can just hold you til the police get there.
