Just curious Billy - do you apportion any level of blame onto Conte for this or are you all in on Levy and that's it?
Any rational thought applied to this makes it clear that it's a combination of several things. Now, sure, you could say Levy hired Conte so ultimately the buck stops with him but I don't think it's fair to play that game. All football clubs, no matter how well they're run, can sometimes choose the wrong manager. It happens. I just can't understand why you wouldn't hold Conte and his team responsible for the abject football and the complete inability to improve a single player during his time with us. That's not on Levy.
I also don't think it's right to completely judge this squad based on the shattered confidence Conte has left behind. Let's see how these lads look under a more progressive coach. You never know, some of them might just shine.
Going back to the main article, I remember that time. Everyone on here was purring about Conte and only a tiny portion of us had concerns about how we were getting those results. It seemed to me at the time that we were getting outplayed, routinely getting butchered on xG numbers by the opposition yet coming away with results. It was painfully obvious this slide was about to take place, and it did. No one listened though. This is what happens when you only pay attention to results and not performances. As I mentioned at the time, performances are the best barometer for future results. If you perform well and batter a team but somehow lose, even if it were to continue like that for a few games, is more positive an outlook than winning fortuitously playing badly. Good performances eventually get you good results. We've not had any.
Can't wait for this season to end. I'll be honest, even when Richy scored the equaliser on Sunday, I barely flinched, such is my apathy on all things Spurs right now. Until we get a new manager in, I'm pretty indifferent. This is just a purgatory period. Roll on June. I just want to know who's coming in next.
OP - A lot of the fans were telling you that it would be worse without Conte, but you wouldn’t have it and wanted him gone asap and now look at us - I told you we should have waited until the end of the season, but you know best

Where does this narrative that we're worse without Conte come from? To my mind, we're in this mess because of him. The players' confidence is on the floor and he's to blame for that. You can't judge the performances under Stellini because it was the same coaches playing the exact same way. At least with Mason in charge, we've seen some level of fight and ambition. To assume it's all gone wrong since Conte has gone is some of the most naive garbage I've ever read. As is the idea that Conte "was right" during his rant. No he wasn't. It's just a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you call out players for being shiiiit, naturally their confidence is going to take a huge hit and they will be. Those of you not holding Conte to account are part of the problem. It's staggering levels of stupidity, it really is.

You're not worse after conte. If conte stayed after his rant you wouldn't even had got the points you did. Spurs aren't a top six team with a manager like conte who doesn't even play to your strengths.
The season has been unbelievably bad and Spursy.
Son has his best ever season then follows it up having his worst ever season - Spursy
Finish above Arsenal and they end up challenging for a title while we end up challenging for the Conference Cup - Spursy
Sack Conte then keep his assistant on who plays the same way only to sack him too and be left with the assistant's assistant - Spursy
Spend a fortune on new signings who are either not played, injured, or just don't contribute enough. Most successful signing is arguably the back up keeper on a free - Spursy
In the top 4 for most goals scored in the league but the bottom 5 for worst defences - Spursy
Go out to Sheff United in the FA Cup - Spursy
Lose twice to a struggling Liverpool who we've been above all season, and lose in the last minute when we score in the last minute to equalise - Spursy
Anything else?
Oh yeah, West Ham probably going to win something before we do - Spursy
Even Klopp couldn't believe we played counter-attacking football with the talent we have. That says everything about the Conte era.
My concern in sacking Conte was putting the ball back in Levy's court. His hiring record is terrible but in the end I am glad Conte left. I don't believe he was sacked.
After his op, it was inevitable he would go and once Bentancur was injured the season was over.
It is what it is and all the talk around Levy not being able to survive post Conte has amounted to a few chants only.
There is no value in looking back. Time to move forward and lets see how Levy fooks it up again lol.

Yeah at no point have I said it’s all gone wrong since it’s all gone wrong since Conte left. He had to go - but I still think end of the season would have been appropriate as we were already out of all comps.
What we’ve seen since is woeful - capitulation at Newcastle, and then treacle puddle starts against United and Liverpool - 12 goals conceded in 3 games and 6 of those have been under Mason - apparently though that’s an improvement on Conte getting us 4th last year and getting us through the CL group this year and 5th at his time of leaving.
The players getting bolloxed at Half time and the. Showing some effort might impress some - it just leaves me questioning what the faaaack is happening at the start

There is value in looking back. That's the only way you learn from mistakes. If Levy doesn't look back on the last 4 years, he'll just repeat exactly the same mistakes and hire yet another misaligned, win-now manager. I've got a horrible, horrible feeling he's going to go for Luis Enrique because Nagelsmann will turn us down.

@sandy - genuine question, do you actually get kicks out of coming onto an anonymous football forum and talking rubbish about liverpool all day every day?
@fridge - agreed mate, said the exact same thing about performances- they always catch up with you. all rests on the next manager now but I don’t trust levy to appoint the right one
@strike - i dont really care tbh, season was done for me after sheff united anyway + we wouldn’t have gotten top 4 under him, did u not see how crap we were/are
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I knew how crap we were, I also knew we would be a lot worse without Conte - which has come to pass.
The squad is horrible, absolute surrender merchants who need getting rid. Bentancur and Kane aside, the rest should be utterly ashamed of this season - the worst I can remember in terms of entertainment
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're not worse after conte. If conte stayed after his rant you wouldn't even had got the points you did. Spurs aren't a top six team with a manager like conte who doesn't even play to your strengths.

Fook him. He knows in a straight fight he would walk over us. If we tried to match them tactics wise they would batter us.

Whataboutery - I can just as easily say we would have more points than now if Conte stayed as we would have beat Bournemouth.
Who is correct? No one, neither of us can prove it so your whole comment is a waste of time
