Are we really miles ahead??

There is a huge gulf between the clubs and it’s not down to a simple measurement of recent scores.

The entire set up, funding, squad, professionalism, worth and practically any other measurement couldn’t make us much further apart when we are both in the same league.

Huge gulf.

Celtic are obviously on top at the moment but things can turn around pretty quickly. We'll see.

We've seen recently how what appears to be a gulf between the two disappears pretty quickly. We looked further ahead the season we won the league than you do at the moment imo.

It is easier to turn that around when you have more resources though and know that if you get it wrong you can go again. The real concern for me is if Rangers get it wrong this summer then we are fooked for a number of years.

I also think your manager has got it so right domestically at least and his style of play is attractive that there is a real chance he won't be your manager for next season.

Are Rangers closer to Celtic?

This season:

Celtic 4-0 Rangers
Celtic 2-2 Rangers
Celtic 2-1 Rangers
Celtic 3-2 Rangers
Celtic 1-0 Rangers

Scored 12
Conceded 5

Fat boy and the Goth have 6 goals in 44 games.

Jota, Abada and Kyogo have 10 goals against Rangers this season.

As Trump would say 'YUGE'

off the park, yes, we're a well run club, no question.

they are a schitshow.

on the park, we're superior but rangers have had opportunities in the last few games, just not the quality.

i suppose if you are a rangers fan you would have to give Hans Mole-o another transfer window to see what he can bring.

Momentum and confidence are everything. That can change.

Absolutely, Ange leaves and we maybe suffer for a while.

There is a serious question mark over how Rangers can bridge this playing gulf and it essentially comes down to funding unless Beale finds quite a few gems on the market and they hit the ground running

It’s a completely different scenario to the 55 season which is a blip in a good number of years and at a time when there was no crowd pressure.

We brought in a manager who it turns out knows a completely new market for players than we’ve had before and who had access to significant funds to bring in the complete article in a number of positions.

Massive gulf between then and now

It’ll be interesting to see who leaves and who comes in for both clubs.

Morelos and Kent are off ski obviously, who will be joining them? Please be James McCarthy, Barkas, Soro and Ajeti.

posted on 3/5/23

Think it’s been said, but normally you would look to a manager being able to firstly improve what is already there. Initially, there was a lot of chat about how Kent looked much better in a more free role and that Sakala had improved because he scored some goals. That appear to have subsided massively in recent weeks. Outside of those 2, has there been any noticeable difference in any rangers players? I’ve not read much about how he’s improved individuals. Results were better but performances don’t seem to have been great from what I’ve read.

Raskin is getting a lot of plaudits but I’ve not seen why, and Cantwell clearly has some skill, but hasn’t been a difference maker in the big games-again, only from what I’ve seen.

Kent and Morelos look for the off, and it’s looking less likely that Tillman will be staying. Beale has gone from initially saying that the squad wasn’t broken, to needing a couple of players, to 4 or 5 new players to now saying a dozen. That would be a bit worrying.

There’s a gap just now, but that can change very quickly. The biggest gap is in the players mentality, as they mention it more than anyone else.

Hypotheticals about the future are supporter talking points and nothing more. The bottom line, on and off the pitch, is Celtic ARE miles ahead of Rangers.

Times are good

Celtic have been well below their best in these matches with Rangers, and we’re still winning. That’s got to worrying if you’re a Rangers fan.

Talking of Rangers fans, I’ve heard that all of their internets are broken..

More importantly, anyone noticed how Ange has marginalised or moved on every black player we had?

In the last match Hatate was an empty shirt, and you still couldn’t beat us, and that was supposed to be your ultimate do or die match of the season.

We’ll keep improving, while you keep rebuilding.

Rangers arguably made a game of it, in what for them were “must win games”. So motivation and new manager bounce are factors?

The fact that Rangers’ architects of “55” (Parks, Wilson, Mullholand, Madden&hellip have all resigned/retired in recent weeks potentially answers the OP.

Miles ahead in some ways yes but 11 vs 11 no not as far I think as many have made out.

We know that OF games are always going to be subject to sensational reactions and reporting in the days after. It's an emotional fixture and its a popular way to sell copy.

Stripping that out, history tells us no team is rarely if ever miles ahead of the other. Scottish football has a glass ceiling that prevents one moving too far ahead so reading headlines today about 10 years to catch up blah blah is nonsense. Celtic are in a good place at the moment, Rangers are not. But in reality 11 vs 11 there are some important differences in quality but its not the way it was some years ago when it was the likes of Rogers vs Caixinha/Murty.

The gap between the two clubs is massive and getting bigger all the time. Celtic are miles ahead on every key measure and it's delusional to think otherwise.

Some people are saying that Rangers were further ahead when they won 55 than Celtic are now. It's madness to think that. At that point, Rangers had picked up one trophy out of nine...Celtic will likely finish this season with 5 out of 6. There's no comparison at all!!!

This is probably the first time in the history of the three clubs when one side has had no reason for hope. Even in the Murray years, Celtic had some decent players, then Fergus came in, built the stadium and we knew that it was only a matter of time before we were back on top.

To make matters worse you now inexplicably have Rookies in the two most important positions in the club. The CEO and the Manager are ridiculously underqualified for their roles and your Chairman is a top Finance guy but not a businessman.

Celtic are set for a sustained period of dominance and even a major coronary for the Fat Aussie Pie Muncher will only be a minor blip.
