It was an extra bank holildaybto mark the coronation. A day when you didn't have to work but still get paid.
If your boss said to you, have tomorrow off and I'll still pay you, would uou be grateful or just bitter about how your boss has power over you and is wealthier than you.
Of course I was grateful for an extra bank holiday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you had a grievance against your boss which you had submitted, hadn't been adequately resolved and wouldnt be resolved by this extra holiday; would you withdraw it due to the extra holiday, refuse it and work anyway, or take the holiday and carry on with the grievance?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
WTF is this mess
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't think you'd answer it.
Your analogy of being given a day off at work only works if you have an active grievance against the boss that wouldn't be resolved by taking the extra holiday. That is the situation with the monarchy giving another bank holiday.
For you analogy to work, most people would have to accept the holiday and close down the grievance or turn down the holiday. That is what you are saying people who are against the monarchy should do with the extra bank holiday.
What most people would actually do, is accept the extra holiday and continue with the grievance regardless. I suspect it is what you would actually do in that situation else you would be an idiot. I expect you'll pretend otherwise though, in an attempt to make your analogy work.

What about dancing around a pole to mark the beginning of summer. The August one was originally intended to allow bank employees the opportunity to participate and attend cricket matches, and enjoy the last day of summer. Bankers! Surely they're on you're extensive list of s<um. I'm amazed you partake in any Bank holiday given its origins for the entitled bank works playing a toffs sport. Lets not even get on to Good Friday anm Easter Monday to celebrate fairies.
Yours must be a fun world, hating bank holidays, everything they stand for while weeping for the poor homeless (while doing feck all about it)
I don't believe in Jesus Christ or Santa Claus but take the Easter and Xmas holidays, that said I would have happily not had one for the coronation
Have no time for the Royals and the associated nonsense but thats imo only of course
You're reaching, which shows you up if we're honest.
I'll leave you to it, but if I want to boo I will and rightly so and you can sing to your sky fairy to save your king.
Each to their own.

This bank holiday wasnt given to appease anyone in response to a grievance, it was given to mark a historical event.
If you hate the King then that's fine, dont accept the day off, or make a positive use of it. Did you? But for the majority of people it was gratefully received whether they wished to mark this event or not.

So you answering the question or not.
You are happy to judge me and anyone who doesnt protest against the monarchy and have called me plenty of names, yet in my view on this booing and the Coronation I am no different to some of your Anfield neighbours.
Its not a straw man argument, and your lack of response simply demonstrates that your judgement of me is based on pre-conceptions that you have in your tiny head - That i'm a Tory, that I'm a Royalist, that I probably voted Brexit and hate immigrants and love Thatcher and endorse cutting Liverpool adrift in the 80s - Suddenly there are these Anfield folk enjoying a street party and you cannot apply the same judgement to them.
You're a blinkered hypocrite mate. I have you down as someone with some intelligence but actually your judgement is based on entrenched views and now that ive challenged you on whether you judge these people the same way you call "strawman" and run off. Pathetic
You're textbook straw manning.
You asked why people booed, you got your answer numerous times. You're now digressing and straw manning because, if we're honest, you look a bit silly.

My analogy was simple.
Yours broadened it out in to some hypothetical rabbit hole which i didnt want to go down because, as you said, it "would be pointless"
Ive already said that this bank holiday was offered TO EVRYONE and not just to those with a grievance so your analogy is flawed.
In your analogy its a matter of principle, and it would depend on the circumstances of the grievance, and because this is undefined it is a pointless rabbit hole to go down.
For booing fans who clearly hold ingrained historic grudges one would expect them to stick to their principles. Is it not a hypocritical situation to say I hate everything about you and everything you stand for and then accept a BH. If in your analogy your boss said, tough sh!t, the office is closed you wont be able to come in and you are forced to accept it then fair enough your options are limited but you could, as was encouraged by the King, make a positive use of that time. My point is people are happy to protest but basically hypocrites, or lack the conviction to follow through with their principles, if they do nothing!

Oh, look who's back not answering the question. Quelle surprise !
I genuinely can't work out what is more pathetic:
Booing at a song being sung
Being upset by the booing of a song being sung
Arguing about the booing of a song being sung
Literally nobody is coming out of this looking like an adult.
I enjoyed the booing tbh. Nothing pathetic about it, was actually quite impressive how the anthem was completely drowned out. Say what you want about Liverpool fans but they know how to protest.

well when you put it that way
But in saying this you are belittling "very good reasons" that some have said exist for booing the song.
I personally think its a good debate. It made me consider that actually booing is just a peaceful form of protest and in that respect its far from the worst thing in the world, but i am yet to really understand why some would protest in this way rather than remain silent and respect the reason for the anthem being played and those who do see meaning in marking the occasion.
I have learned things about some posters, and while it is impossible to truly know people over an internet forum you can get a sense of peoples views and approaches to life and whether they have any tolerance for those of a different view.
I think its interesting to explore peoples principles, what makes them tick, the reasons they take certain actions and whether they are truly committed to their principles or just pick and choose.
I think you are wrong to shut down this debate as childish.
What better way to protest peacefully would you suggest?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I aint reading that contrived whataboutery nonesense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's your analogy made more applicable to the situation. So your basically admitting you're just using whataboutery and hating it when it's turned back on you.

Did the coronation actually cost £1.36b? That is fecking outrageouswhy wasn’t it funded by the tax free inheritance the monarch received?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, the coronation cist about £110m, but the cost of the bank holiday is estimated to be £1.36bn just do they can have a party to go 'Oooooo look at me, I'm a King', which we all knew anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you're against bank holidays!
and the Coronation happened on Saturday so the Monday Bank holiday was left to use in a way you saw fit!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, I'm against extra Bank Holidays for funerals and parties because it's ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What about dancing around a pole to mark the beginning of summer.

I'll leave you to it, but if I want to boo I will and rightly so and you can sing to your sky fairy to save your king.

Its very simple dude. I got a day off work. I was paid for it. I am grateful for that.
This bank holiday wasnt given to appease anyone in response to a grievance, it was given to mark a historical event.
If you hate the King then that's fine, dont accept the day off, or make a positive use of it. Did you? But for the majority of people it was gratefully received whether they wished to mark this event or not.

Its a positive thing and reflects the fact that Charles actually understand the lack of relevance of the monarchy in the modern day and that modernisation is needed, So he's not an overlord demanding we all pay homage to him, he's actually encouraged people to do something positive with this time, something for others, something for the community - GIve me that attitidue over some booing bitter miseries with entrenched hang-ups over authority!

Pathetic

OK. Well we've spent so many posts with you avoiding answering that I've had to cut the reply thread down. So I think we've established that your analogy didn't work and for it to work you'd have to contradict everything you've been telling others.
I'll leave it there as carrying on would be pointless.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
well when you put it that way
But in saying this you are belittling "very good reasons" that some have said exist for booing the song.
