To be fair he is not wrong. The electric future is set to be dominated by Tesla and the Chinese. It is easy to dismiss China. But they have some very competitive EV's coming to Europe and the rest of the world. These are well made well featured cars, and importantly affordable. The Chinese are coming.
I put down a deposit on my Tesla almost 6 months ago and I still don’t have it. It’s a facking joke.

To be fair to Tesla they sell every car they can make, and are ramping production as fast as they can, and building new factories. Tesla will build around 2 million cars this year. That will probably double next year.
What Tesla did you order. And have they given you any sort of delivery date? I can't imagine it will be too much longer.
I got the Model S, at the time they told me it would be 6 weeks to 2 months delivery. It’s not like I desperately need it right now or anything (perfectly happy with my 1.2L Clio ) but I was hoping to have it before by insurance was up for renewal (that was back in April).
Whenever I look for an update it just tells me the lead time for delivery is the following month.
Just checked and it says estimated delivery is July-September. I paid the deposit for it in late Jan

Western cars aren't that much safer than a Toyota or Subaru. And what's the point in a slightly safer car which most of the world can't afford anyway? And if you afford it then you can't maintain it which leads to terrible resale value. Not to mention the fuel consumption.

how people can defend that practice is beyond me.... Tesla have sat on over 1.5m pre orders deposits for up to 5 years so far. every year Musk says is will be out mid 202.... we are at mid 2023 the date of his last update release and nothing is going out yet. As things stand they have about quarter of a billion sitting in their accounts for customer deposits for the cyber trucks, so far some of them are at 5 years wait with zero idea of when it will be released.

zero respect to the customers. Its not coming out in Australia now apparently they are getting a different smaller version .
Have they stopped pre orders for the truck in Australia..... course they havent !!!
defend customers having to wait up to and over 5 years after making a deposit and still have no idea when to expect the car they have made a deposit on.
Whodunnit we have been over this before. The Pre orders for Cybertruck was to gauge demand. That demand has far exceeded expectations and you can cancel anytime.
Even when production starts it will take at least 3 years to clear back orders, and probably longer. It is up to the customer to decide if they want to wait or not.
